The rebate mailing address is New Rochelle. So don't hold your breath waiting to get it if you buy this. The rebate form is for Visiontek and not CompUSA, but it it goes to CompUSA's New Rochelle rebate center. Based on my previous experience and the experience of countless others who have had rebates through New Rochelle you would be better off simply avoiding this deal and the aggravation of trying to get your rebate.

bump for a great deal on a sweet card ... assuming you're willing to deal with the rebate hassles!

Yes by the time you get the rebate you could have waited and bought the card for that at regular price. However the two plus months of usage might equal something.

Gentlemen, Gentlemen, lets keep this on topic shall we. Why does something so simple about a great card and the reality of getting a rebate have to degenerate so quickly into a flame war. Aren?t we above all of this.

And on a bit of a different topic here perhaps, I think this rebate is coming out now so that Visontek/CompUSSR can get there stock of 9800Pro's down to make way for the Radeon 9900 Pros which I think are coming out next month? Just a guess?

This looks like a internet deal from CompUsa. I have had no problems with other rebates from Visiontek. Not a bad deal considering a 9700 Pro (if you can find one) is just a little less than this price.

I've never lost a rebate to New Rochelle, but I do follow some guidelines - for EVERY rebate I send in. Since this is the NOTORIOUS New Rochelle center, this advice might be good for newbies.

When a rebate is .01-19.99, I take my chances. I can live if it doesn't come.

When a rebate is $20-49.99, I go with Delivery Confirmation, or Registered Mail. Something to track that it WAS, in fact, delivered. Adds a buck or so onto the cost of a stamp.

When a rebate is $50+, I slap on a return receipt requested postcard. The 3-4 bucks is WELL worth getting the entire rebate back. This is a postcard SIGNED at the rebate center by an actual human being that is dated and sent back to you CONFIRMING the rebate was received. No more "we never got it" excuses. However, the cost restricts me to only use it on rebates OVER 50 dollars. Putting a RRR on a 15 dollar rebate kinda defeats the purpose of a rebate.

Of course, with EVERY rebate, always make copies and follow the directions to a tee. New Rochelle has an uncanny tendency to smell out rebates where 1) the person didn't cover their ass, or 2) didn't FULLY follow directions.

Sometimes, you have to spend money to make sure you make money. It sucks, but I call it "dumbass" insurance. If they decide to be dumbasses, I have insurance :) The only downside to the deal is that you need to visit your nice postal employees to get these nice things put on your envelope - it's not a DIY thing.

If I already wasn't happy with my 9700 Pro, I'd be over this like stink on... :D

Also keep in mind the 9900 Pro is due in September - the R360 - but even that's not going to be incredibly "worth" it as it's just a rerigged 9800 Pro core, which in itself was just a rerigged 9700 Pro core... :)

Wait for the R400/NV40s if you can! I know I am - I'm asking for gift cards instead of "presents" this year. Cold hard cash ain't bad, either.

I placed a cancelation since you guys made the rebate center sound so bad. Also I think I'll stick with the Ti 4600 till the 9900 comes out or at least drops the 9800 price.. Also I didn't know visiontek had went bankrupt and rebought so who knows how this new VT is. They make it a hassle to cancel ill tell you that I'm still waiting to hear back and they close at 4pm pst for phone service. I've been ripped off from Compussr once before for $120 not going to again.

I had all my rebate successfull. Only one problem with a rebate and I fixed it with just a simple phone call to the rebate center. To me rebates are not too bad, I have gotten my New R. rebates also, but yea I hear a ton of complaining about New R. rebates.
