I hope they do atleast have the description of the suspect correct. Reminds me of the time when there was that sniper roaming the mid-east coast and the police always thought it was a white van. Turns out to be a completely different car.

Strange timing, someone tweeted it earlier, but this one seems more legit coming from WP:

Initially, i thought the two were related but this started from a routine traffic stop.. :(

Depression usually. The kid back in 2007 was depressed and had some other issues.
No coping skills, the kid at Woodbridge is a prime example.

I believe people mature physically, emotionally, and intellectually. When their maturing process gets unbalanced and they are forced to deal with things beyond their ability and age, they normally act out.
For most folks its usually just being a dick hole on the road or mean to a cashier.
Some kids keep it bottled in and it eventually explodes in violence. Sadly since its so easy to get guns in Virginia you run the occasional risk of violence that goes way beyond vandalism or fist fights.
Of course, I still think its better than California, where shootings are so common they dont even bother reporting them any more.

Haven't seen it here yet, but the rumor running around is that the 2nd body was the shooter. Not sure if I'm buying it, but VT did just release everyone on lockdown and said to resume normal activities.

edit: Oh, VT did say a bit ago that there was a weapon next to the 2nd body. That would help the rumor. I guess they of all people had reason to be extra cautious and keep looking until they confirmed.

Ugh... not again :(

I was there for the 2006 Escaped Con, the 4/16/2007 shootings, and the beheading and was an RA for most of them. Blacksburg is such a great place, I wish this sort of thing would stop...

I've heard that the first victim was the Police Officer and the second victim was the shooter.

Prayers for all of my fellow Hokies!

Press conference on TV right now says gunman found dead. This is police chief and VT president Stegr.
All they said in the PC is that officers didn't shoot the guy at the cage and that they couldn't comment if he was the shooter. Although at this point I'm sure he is.

They also said that the shooter was NOT the person pulled over by the cop, which is interesting.

Same here. I was on upper quad (cadet dorms) and one of our freshman's room had a direct line of sight to Norris. I was in Hancock when the actual shootings went down.

That must have been horrible :( Hancock is pretty close to Norris too!

I was on 1st floor in Pritchard for 2007. I remember being told to get out of our room (away from the windows) and into the hall. I had a Skype phone since I didn't get cell service there and ended up lending it to anyone who was walking by that day so they could call home.

I was an RA in West AJ right above the first room for the 3 following years.

Still always proud to be a Hokie though!

well, the school needs some serious PR repair after this. No way would any high achiever want to go to that school now. Hopefully more than just PR changes (better security, etc).

After the 2007 shooting they really didnt lose too many enrollments.
We'll see if this one is any worse.
