Funny how it will not have to be paid till around the time of the next Gov of VA takes office.
I guess if Reagan looks good for using the CC to make things look good; McDonnel will look good for using someone elses money to make things look ok.

Virginia has quite a few wineries these days, so who else is going to do that kind of labor.

I grew up in northern Va, and still have family there, but I really don't know since I haven't live there for several decades. Several years ago, alot of the lower rent areas that used to be occupied by whites went hispanic the last time I was in Arlington. They were mostly refugees of the crap going on in El Salvador and Nicaragua. I'm sure they've only expanded in population.

During the housing boom N.VA had a alot. Now its like a ghost town in many areas. All the places like 7-11 have some still here, but even then its not many people like before. That and many are legal's just made more money doing housing work. Guy who did our framing is hispanic but is legal.

So any support that state was paying is almost nothing now.

In all fairness most state pension funds are mathematically going to fail anyways due to insanely high "estimated returns". It is really a question of when and not if. I highly doubt the rest of the taxpayers will accept a tax in order to pay someone elses sweet ass retirement package while they face a more realistic situation when they retire.

The dumb thing is as much as states complain about the Fed, the Fed changed their retirement plan in the 70's. CSRS(pension) died in the 80's when FERS was implamented. FERS is mostly backed up on a TSP/401k type plan and CSRS was the old pension one.

I can tell you that in Northern VA, many of us think McDonnell is a crap governor. Funny that he is into fcking NOVA when we were the very reason he's in office. While some of the cuts he's doing are good, some of his other craptastic decisions have already solidified a negative image like honoring confederate history month and suing to prevent Virginians from receiving the benefits of the new healthcare plan. His rep is already in the toilet, cuts aren't going to salvage it.

I read somewhere, will try to dig it up so its not gospel or anything, that the unions had a lot to do with that and the insane promises. Of course I assume the states were at least somewhat complicit (entities in general usually are complicit during good times. GM as an example) but to my knowledge there is plenty of blame to share.

At the Gov (Fed or State) Unions don't have as much power, most can't even strike. So changing the retirment plan is not as hard. Problems is most politicians don;t have any care as long as they get their pay check and bring up things that affect very few like gays, abortion, etc...

I've only been in Manassas for a little over a year so I dont have much to base an opinion on.
But every time his name comes up I hear rants and raves and threats and hatred that George W would be envious of.
