Thought maybe you could help me figure this out.

Virgin Mobile added a new $99 phone (currently $85 on sale) and I thought it was going to be a pretty good value

I swear when I first looked at the specs on this phone it was listed as a 1.2 Ghz DUAL CORE processor, but now they list the specs as just "1.2 Ghz Processor" Obviously not nearly as good of a value if it's single core.

Looking at the manufacturer's spec page they don't say anything about single/dual core, however they do list the CPU as a "MSM8630 1.2 GHz"
http://www.zteusa.com/phones/virginmobile-awe.html

Looking this up online seems to indicate it's a dual core chip:

However when I asked one of VM's chat representatives enough times they told me it was a single core phone (although I don't believe 100% of everything those reps say)

So just trying to clarify, is it possible they have one core disabled or it's a one core version of that SoC? Obviously there's not a lot of reviews for these bottom of the barrel phones

EDIT: I just checked and found a bunch of previews citing a dual core CPU as well. Is it possible it truly is a dual core and they are just not advertising that anymore?

vm isnt a deal since you cant get decent data 99% of places

Agreed. VM sucks for me. 75% of the time, I get one bar. GPS signal drops out all over the place, takes forever to update. I'm going to ATT GoPhone asap.

If you are deadset on VM and want to stay budget I would go for the Optimus F3 so you can get LTE (assuming you have LTE in your area or willing to wait for it). VM/Sprint 3G is pretty bad.

I'm really just trying to figure out if this specific phone is a single core or dual core, not debate VM as a service

Even if it is dual core, it is worth the extra $60 for the Optimus F3 to get LTE and a bigger battery.
