That was intense! I'm shocked the GT3 stayed that close to the Viper on that straight. I'd like to see those two duke it out without traffic...

The Porsche drivers was much more aggressive, he did a lot of blocking, getting the other cars off line, driving them into a corner so they would have to lift, and using traffic to hold them up. A few times it looked like the viper was trying to eat the porsche.

I always wondered how fast a Porsche GT1 would have taken the 'Ring with a good driver and good tires. I'm thinking it would significantly outdistance the Viper ACR.

Holy crap, that was scary just watching it on youtube. Those cars are wicked fast. Looked like the Viper had a torque advantage (duh), but total horsepower must have been similar because he couldn't pull on the big straight, but could pull coming out of corners. Porsche had later braking. The amount of grip they were generating is staggering.

The driver of the Porsche seemed so much more aggressive.

But watching how effortless it was for those cars to pull themselves out of corners was incredible.

Sounded like the Viper's highest gear was too tall. If that were adjusted, he could have gone a lot faster on that straightaway.

If the Viper had made it through the first corner with the lead I think he would have pulled away. He was all over the Porsche most of the lap, it was only traffic and the straight where the Porsche could pull away.

During the longest straight away when they are in top gear, the 911 flys by the viper like it was standing still...
Bad gearing

I think the lambo let both go, realizing it was a competition between the porsche and Viper.

Intervening in such races can be dangerous for all parties involved...well more so than usual. ;)

That part shocked me. Both because I didn't expect it, and because of how fast he passed the Viper.

What a awesome video. It really shows the stones you need to have to race cars.

The viper let off of the gas if you watch it again.

And all the BMW's blocking lol

The 911 driver was more experienced. From what people say in the youtube comments. But both were really good. It just goes to show you how awesome Nürburg Race track is, Its long and lots of nice turns and straights.

I was surely shocked when the 911 past the viper on the straight away when the viper was pulling away, It sounded like he downshifted or let off the gas to let him pass, so maybe it was not really to much of a race.

@3:08 the Viper driver makes a big mistake. The BMW driver was signaling left and the Viper driver still pushed past on the left hand side. Bad track etiquette.

That viper needs a taller? 6th gear. His gearing killed him on that straight near the end.
