A brand new base Kia is over the top excess and luxury in many parts of the US, and esp a lot of other places in the world.

That's only because Kia's can do it on two wheels:

I've got a good buddy that has two vipers amongst his play toys, I have ridden in them and driven them on numerous occasions. Personally I wouldn't have one except for a track car. They are cramped and uncomfortable for anyone bigger than a midget, they ride rough as hell, they are so loud you can't listen to the radio, and the visability is HORRIBLE! I helped him take them to a car show in Austin one weekend 400 mile round trip all freeway(he drove one I drove the other) and I could barely walk after getting out of it after the 200mi trip each way.

If you want a really, really fast go cart with NO creature comforts, go ahead, not my cup of tea. And driving it on the freeway at 65mph is just frustrating as hell, the whole time your cruising in 3rd gear at about 1500-1800rpms. It constantly begs to be streched out but even if you mildly stretch it out and shift thru 4th and 5th you quickly find yourself at double the speed limit and you haven't even touched 6th gear 🙁
