Like I mentioned earlier, a C6 Z06 can be had for less with low miles and will be faster at the track than an '04 Viper and much better on the roads.
True. For that much money, it's hard to ignore a C6Z. FAR more potential and FAR more civil.

I would probably only get a Viper after I had a Corvette, haha

Appreciate all the replies guys but im not really interested in a z06. Like the idea of a vert which is why I like the viper. I also see a z06 every single day on my way to work. I haven't seen a viper in weeks. Going to check out the beast tonight.

Definitely be gentle on the throttle in turns when test driving, don't need to trash a car that's not yours lol. Not trying to be a smart ass or dig on the Viper, it's a beast, and I've seen two come through our shop for that very reason. Got a little too excited on turns (and doesn't take much with the V10's torque "curve" lol), lost the back end and hit something (both slammed the passenger quarter-panel into something) and the back end will literally crumble. The entire rear-half of the cars had to be replaced essentially. Cars like this aren't designed to take hits, that would weigh too much.

Viper is meant to be wild, loud, stiff, aggressive, and impractical.

If you want a cruiser, I suggest you look where else. Viper gets 10mpg on the highway, last I checked.

If you do get a Viper, do yourself a huge favor by taking some aggressive driving courses.

You don't want this happens to you.

Hmm, on tire rack it looks like the OEM rear tires for that beast are $511 each. I imagine with that car you'll probably going through those pretty quickly ;)

When you see someone in a viper or nice car do you automatically assume they just want people to look at them? I don't understand this attitude..

Yeah pretty much. Why else would someone pay way too much for a car that goes the same speed as everyone else on the road? The only reason people buy expensive cars is because they are expensive. It's below them to buy an economical car that gets them from point A to point B just the same. Having 500hp or 200hp doesn't matter when you are driving down a normal road.

So yes, people who buy vipers do it for looks.

You probably never driven a car with more than 200hp.

Get the Viper. In the long run, it's value will stay significantly higher than a Vette's because of the rarity and exclusivity of the car. In addition, it looks better and you will regret the day when you pull up next to one driving in your Z06.

Let me introduce you to a new word: acceleration.

As if people who own Viper's don't have several other cars, of which I'm sure they have some fairly standard daily drivers.

You drive a Prius don't you?

I took it for an hour drive down PCH and i'm absolutely inlove. The Torque is just immense and instant. Felt amazing even off idle and pulled like a freight train up to 50. Going to take it to a friend who is a viper tech in a few days and if everything checks out i'm going to be picking it up.

Only if you drive it like a dumbass. I doubt they last all that long if you drive it like a normal person though either.

If they are anything like the tires on my Vette, then they will last 18-20k if you are lucky. The only difference is that mine are a little smaller at 325's in the rear vs the 345's on the Viper.

Even then it doesn't matter. Wide 300 series tires made of soft compound on a 3,500 lb car on city streets are going to wear out fast no matter how carefully you drive.

My dentist daily drives a Viper to work that his wife gave him as a birthday present a few years ago. It's similar to the one that Jules posted. I've talked to him about it and he loves it.

Like someone else said, I see multiple Z06's every day but maybe only see a Viper once every two weeks.

What?!?!?

There are hundreds of reasons to buy a car at any given price point that don't involve "look expensive".

Do you drive a base model Kia? If not, you chose to spend more money for reasons...and likely many of those reasons were not just because you wanted it to "look expensive".

fantastic! Just remember, 6th gear @ 60 is something like 1100 rpm. Just telling you so you can tell the police. 3 cheers to buying crazy cars because you love them. Pics as soon as you get it.

Good on you for seriously considering.

Nothing wrong with buying a car you think is awesome for the single reason that it's awesome. Some people will never get that.

A brand new base Kia is over the top excess and luxury in many parts of the US, and esp a lot of other places in the world.
