Here's the latest Vette review from the carconnection.com. The latest version is faster than the 911 Turbo.
http://www.thecarconnection.com/consumer/Reviews/sports-exotics/000731_WalkerVetteZ06.asp?idSection=006&idCategory=09

"Vettes are fast, right? As in tire-smokin?, gut-wrenching, eyeball-poppin? fast. Fast enough to rocket you from zero to 60 in the time it takes to say "Er, sorry, Officer. Won?t happen again."

But now there?s a new Corvette that takes fast to a higher dimension. Count slowly from one to four and that?s the time it takes the brand new Corvette Z06 to zoom from standstill to 60 mph.

And if that sounds fast, well, it is. V-e-r-y fast. To put it in perspective, the latest $115,000 Porsche 911 Turbo is left in the Vette?s dust. Ferrari F355? Not in the same league. And the Z06 isn?t some one-off race special. Within the next few weeks, it?ll be in your local Chevy showroom waiting to have its tires kicked. Yours for a mere $47,500."

That motherf*cker is smoking some serious CRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

The '01 Turbo does 0-60 in 3.7, the Z06 does 4.3-4.4

The 911 only does 3.7 when tested by a magazine that gets a lot of advertising from Porsche.;)

What's the matter Russ?? You have to pull stuff out of your arse now? ;)

Most mags have about a dozen GM ads in a single issue. You may see a Porsche ad once every 4 months.

I don't believe claims in gun magazines either. But, hey, if you think an extra 68 grand is worth it for a tenth or two, go for it.

NFS4: I admire your dedication to Mopar as I'm an old Mopar freak myself and at times, despise the Bowtie. You are forgetting something. Dodge has Daimler-Benz directly behind them now. You know, hundreds of European track victories dating back to the '30s....... Zillions of miles of experience on the Autobahnen..... And a wealth of engineering talent.

The future races should be even more interesting. Glad you brought this up. I was wondering how the Vipers and the Vettes were doing.

The Viper GTS was kicking the Corvette's ass in Lemans before the merger went through.

I have to say that if I had a choice between a new Porshce 911 Turbo or a Corvette, I'd choose the Porsche. I'd be willing to bet quite a lot of money that there's a reason the Porsche is more expensive other than the fact that it's imported. Handling, road feel, quality of build, etc. However, I'd take a Ferrari 550 Maranello over anything on the road today:D But hey, that's just my opinion.

Yeah, if I can afford 50k for the Corvette, I'd spend an extra 30K on the better 911 ;)

Ness,

Yes, after you add a few options like a steering wheel, tires, seats, door handles, etc.

The MSRP is ~115k, but you'll never get a '01 model for that much. Probably closer to ~130

the 911 Turbos on e-bay are going for 150k plus and they're advertising the sticker price at $160k.

And with only 200 made available in the U.S., can you just go to a dealer to get one?

Yeah and I'm saying it's not really $115k, it's $160k, you could get 3 Corvettes and a rice box for that much. So is it worth it?

Hell yeah it is. A Vette is still a Chevy which means cheap ass interior and materials.

A Porsche is a Porsche and hence come the advantages of owning one. Reliability, quality, exclusivity, and resale value.

Last time I checked, you don't exactly go to the corner store and buy a Vette either...

Seeing as how BMW doesn't have a stock powerplant that can do 450+ HP and nearly ~500lb/ft of torque (besides the McLaren F1 engine, but that doesn't count ;)), they don't have room to talk ;)

BMW's can actually make it around the corners at a decent speed so they dont need that kind of power to make up for lost time

Vipers can handle with the best of the Bimmers...that's why M3's are in the GT class and Vipers are in the GTS class :D
