Seems like there should be more to that. So US troops camp out a balcony and decide to pick off civilian cars? Doesn't make sense.

To be honest, I can?t say this surprises me.

However, this is sickening nonetheless.

Since we aren't getting all the information, we can't really know what was going on here. I doubt the soldiers decided to just start shooting random cars.

It sucks that there is an outlet for this kind of media. It's totally out of context and does only harm....not good.

Especially since they are filming it. There must be more to this than the video shows.

How do you know they aren't the bad guys and the Marine's weren't notified to be on the lookout for them?
I think the use of the word 'civilian' in this case is sickening. The marine's were doing their job (and believe me, if these were really civilians, this would have been all over every paper in the world, and on every news outlet you can think of.).

All of you who are jumping to these extreme conclusions are a bunch of idiots because we probably dont know 1/10th of the story.

Iraq is like what Vietnam was, you can't tell the good guys from the bad guys.

it sure seemed like they were random cars

but toward the end of the video someone mentions that a sniper round hit very close to someone. so it seems they were taking some kind of return fire at some point. and someone else says to stay down... to avoid sniper fire to to avoid being incriminated? who knows

just because they sound gleeful doesnt mean they are doing something wrong. any firefight is a huge rush of adrenaline and fear and while people handle it in different ways, many learn to revel in the high. certainly those who have been there a long time find ways to enjoy their job

of course we know that humans are humans, even americans, and this could be as bad as it seems

On second thoughts, I agree with others, this clip doesn't tell the whole story.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Ramadi is a an absolute hell hole. My buddy was a corpsman embedded with Marines and was stationed in the town and it was an absolute nightmare.

But regarding the video, you hear the soldiers say someone almost took a round from a sniper and you have a car fly up into an obvious hot zone. Something was going on in this situation, and I don't think it was Grandma and her grandchildren going for a peaceful drive on a nice day.

Jumping to conclusions, like with the rapes and the video of the marines with the water bottle.

Charming, keep using my tax dollars, boys!

So because the title of the video fragment says it is Americans shooting at unarmed civilians we are supposed to just believe it? Did anybody saying how despicable this video is even stop for one second to attempt to give even an ounce of critical analysis or thinking to the situation we see in the video? You have NO IDEA what was actually going on before that video clip opened. You are just so ready to condemn the actions of our soldiers you are willing to jump up and start burning flags at the mere suggestion that the soldiers were maybe acting out of line. You just look at some random and totally unverified clip off you YouTube and it's off to the races for you. You know 0 facts about the context of the event. But I guess if it's on the internet and somebody says so that makes it true. You guys must have PhD's in jumping to conclusions cuz you are better at it than anybody I have ever seen. Burn in hell.

Asking the dweebs in OT to use any type of critical thinking skills is like expecting an elephant to fly south for the winter. It just isn't going to happen.

Yeah exactly. . .because they are so dumb they would actually film themselves firing on innocent civilians and then let it get released on the internet.

At the very beginning of the video you can see someone behind the brown car. They are not trying to run inside. It looks like they are firing on the marines.
This video was probably shot during one of many "traffic bans" that have occurred many times throughout Iraq. The "citizens" of Iraq know very well the consequences of violating such a ban.

after watching the video, its more likely they were responding to sniper fire with overwhelming firepower and the rocket they fired was intended for the house the sniper was shooting from.

Yep...let's take a video with no context and get outraged!

Meanwhile, we can ignore stuff like this...since you know, it isn't something American soldiers did:

Insurgents in Iraq detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle with two children in the back seat after US soldiers let it through a Baghdad checkpoint over the weekend, a senior US military official said Tuesday.

The vehicle was stopped at the checkpoint but was allowed through when soldiers saw the children in the back, said Major General Michael Barbero of the Pentagon's Joint Staff.

"Children in the back seat lowered suspicion. We let it move through. They parked the vehicle, and the adults ran out and detonated it with the children in the back," Barbero said.

The general said it was the first time he had seen a report of insurgents using children in suicide bombings. But he said Al-Qaeda in Iraq is changing tactics in response to the tighter controls around the city.

A US defense official said the incident occurred on Sunday in Baghdad's Adhamiyah district, a mixed neighborhood adjacent to Sadr City, which is predominantly Shiite.

After going through the checkpoint, the vehicle parked next to a market across the street from a school, said the official, who asked not to be identified.

"And the two adults were seen to get out of the vehicle, and run from the vehicle, and then followed by the detonation of the vehicle," the official said.

"It killed the two children inside as well as three other civilians in the vicinity. So, a total of five killed, seven injured," the official said.

Officials here said they did not know who the children were or their relationship to the two adults who fled the scene. They had no information about their ages or genders.

"The brutality and the ruthlessness of this enemy hasn't changed," said Barbero, deputy director of regional operations of the Joint Staff. "They are just interested in slaughtering Iraqi civilians, to be very honest."

Attacks on Iraqi civilians are down by a third and sectarian murders have fallen by 50 percent since mid-February when US and Iraqi forces began moving into Baghdad as part of a new security crackdown, the general said.

On the other hand, there has been no let-up in attacks on US forces by Al-Qaeda in Iraq and other Sunni extremist groups, he said.

The incidence of car bombings and suicide attacks, which are typically carried out by Sunni extremist groups against Shiites, also have gone up even though their effectiveness is down, he said.

"As our checkpoints, and control points have been more effective, as they try to execute these high profile attacks with these vehicle-borne IEDs (improvised explosive devices) in Baghdad, we're stopping a lot of them at these checkpoints and they are not getting to their intended targets," he said.

The first several responders to this thread, and especially the op...you are all idiots. You people are the reasons anti-us forces spend half their effort on propoganda, because lemmings like you are so willing so soak it up. And Aimster, why dont you just buy a 1 way ticket back to the middle east since you love it so much. I doubt many would miss you.
