I defended that other white cop when he punched that girl in the face, I would have defended him if he had pulled his gun. The video is horrifying. We have a man on the ground, with multiple officers on and in control of him, and one of them simply pulls out a gun and kills him.

Well...close. One of them announces he is going to use his taser, immediately pulls his handgun and fires a shot, jumps a little and looks up at his partner with an obviously stunned look on his face. Try not to let facts stand in the way of your interpretations, though.

All these comments about this guy about what he did, the black community, and etc. Nothing this guy did warranted him being shot in the back. Nothing at all. This was a guy who could have and should have been handcuffed and sent back to jail if need be. That should have been the end result. Race has little to do with it. There was a black cop in Chino CA that shot a white or hispanic boy sitting on the ground in front of his corvette well after high speed chase had ended (see video below). Boy was just talking shit and cop unloaded 3 in his chest. Problem is boys in blue are too high strung and some are psychopaths and various other issues. Problem is DA's kiss their asses when they do fuck up like these cases. Problem is juries as well who kiss cops asses when they fuck up.

I'm pretty law and order type. Love the tazer etc but there is no excuse for crap like this. A cop should be held to a higher standard not given a slap on the wrist. It is a damn joke...

I don't know what the jury in this case is going to decide, but I hope those who hate me and those who understand that I never intended to shoot Oscar Grant will listen to this message.

I have and will continue to live everyday of my life knowing that Mr. Grant should not have been shot. I know a daughter has lost a father and a mother has lost a son. It saddens me knowing that my actions cost Mr. Grant his life, no words express how truly sorry I am.

I hoped to talk to Ms. Johnson (Wanda Johnson, Grant's mother) and Ms. Mesa (Sophina Mesa, Grant's girlfriend and the mother of his daughter) in the days following this terrible event, but death threats toward my newly-born son, my friends and family resulted in no communication occurring. I hope the day will come when anger will give way to dialogue.

For now, and forever I will live, breathe, sleep, and not sleep with the memory of Mr. Grant screaming "You shot me" and putting my hands on the bullet wound thinking the pressure would help while I kept telling him "You'll be okay!" I tried to tell myself that maybe this shot would not be so serious, but I recall how sick I felt when Mr. Grant stopped talking, closed his eyes and seemed to change his breathing.

I don't expect that I can ever convince some individuals how sorry I am for the death of Mr. Grant, but I would not feel right if I didn't explain my thoughts as I wait for a decision of the jury.
