Society expects guys to be the pursuers, so guys pursue and take steps with whatever nonverbal cues they get from the other party (touching, entering your personal space, bringing up sex, etc. etc.). I'm not saying that means she should have been raped, I am saying though that most men would haven taken her cues to mean it was appropriate to move to the next level; invite her on a date.

The lady worked on Wall Street and is in Sales, she's not stupid. Again, there is nothing anyone does that should lead to them being raped. Ok - but at the point he was rubbing her legs, that isn't the time to say the statement "Data is so hot" and then touch in return on the shoulder. I agree - when someone touches you on the leg and then you touch them in return - that is a non-verbal signal that you don't have issue with it. Secondly when he starts going again shortly after she just goes "that's a little high" - am I alone in thinking that is the point where you give a specific FUCK NO type of response? You know, the type where you literally shove their hand off yourself?

She was flirting. It was sexual. So after he rubbed her shoulders and puts his hand up her dress, she says data is Hott and touches him. Look it, let's be honest about this, sales in certain industries tend to hire young attractive woman. It's not a secret why.

I really believe videos like this are more harmful than helpful to the MeToo movement. Everyone has agency, When you are 28, you have agency to make wise choices, she didn't. Now, again, that does not mean that she should have been raped, but it does reflect on her credibility.

I saw your initial post in which you tried to preemptively conflate two things. The woman's behavior was inappropriate, she attempted to use her sexuality to close a deal. That is inappropriate and I'm sure there are a lot of deals she closed by that manner that other woman who wouldn't do that didn't close! Weinstein was inappropriate as well. He used his position of power and her desire to close the deal to be touchy and sexual with her. But we should be able to call out both parties. And again, her behavior shouldn't have led to her being raped. No is always no. But she made a plethora of bad decisions that day, esp. going up the hotel room of a man who had just rubbed her shoulders and put his hand up her skirt. And for me that impacts her credibility.

I don't believe equating situations to the Holocaust is worthwhile. She did flirt. But the question becomes what level of flirtatiousness or using your sexuality to get a deal is one comfortable with. I am not white and so I am quite aware of power dynamics in the business world (generally being the only black person in most business meetings). And after canvassing for Hilary Clinton as a black man in North Carolina, I am also aware that this country is more sexist than racist. Having said that I also believe everyone has their own agency. She didn't say no, she wasn't professional and she was involved in and furthered the sexual atmosphere of the meeting.

There are distinctly two issues here and you seem comfortable conflating them into one.
