So people motion for a ban because it was malicious, or because it was Peta?

Do you think that Peta ever gets involved in the making of these? Perhaps just to get the worlds eye on an industry? or perhaps involved in making of the chicken video...as a set up?

I hate Peta, but that's pretty painful. Why not kill the animal first? Just to be sadistic? And who buys raccoon fur coats anyway? "Look at my new coat, it's not mink, it's raccoon!"

I wouldn't worry about the ban thing, people do that here all the time. It's just their way of saying they don't like what you posted.

Posting porn or something racially derogatory will get you banned though, or at least a vacation.

Thanks, I was a bit worried...vacation? how does that work?

Besides, I didn't force anyone to watch it, they chose to click on the link...

Same here. My dog is sitting in my lap right now and I couldn't watch anymore after he slammed that thing on the ground

Well it doesn't help that raccoons are kinda cute. People like cute animals. If that were a giant rat, or an anteater, or aircooled's cat, or something like that, people wouldn't be as squimish about it.

Both...

That video was pretty tough to watch but I stomached it.

Why didn't they just kill the animals first?
Also, where was the video shot, sure didn't look like US/Canada.

That was some foreign country. Didn't bother me, I've seen goats, pigs, chickens and cows slaughtered. The only part I could not understand was the skinning while the animal was still alive. That made no sense to me. Slamming the animal to the ground seemed a little overboard as well. There are humane ways to kill an animal. Those were not good examples.

yeah I'm not going to watch it after reading all those comments. I'll stick to my rosy picture of furry little animals running around unharmed.

I helped slaughter a lamb for a biology class once (was on the college farm). It's really not that bad. Now, skinning an animal alive is a different story.

But hey, all this food and leather/fur comes from something...

Dayyum I suggest not watching this if you are an animal lover. I had to shut it off.

Congratulations....that is the first video I have EVER had to shut off. I am desensitized to most things. I have watched videos of executions, beheadings......for some reason, after the racoon got skinned alive, I had to turn it off.

REPOST!

Well, not really a repost, but PETA jacked those clips from another video (I think). The original thread can be found by searching fur.

And there's nothing wrong with killing an animal for fur.

The reason why keep them alive is so they can get *all* the fur including on the head.

I think they should behead the animal or something..before skinning it alive like that..

But from an objective standpoint it kind of makes sense. (I think this takes place in China) - which means poor people, which means each scrap of fur is worth money, as long as it's part of the entire pelt. Also, if you do slit it's throat or cut it's head off, you'll get blood getting all over the coat. This may(?) have some adverse effect on the coat itself. And finally, you notice they do not do anything to really torture the animal, other than skinning it alive. They club/stun it, since they are really interested in the fur, and don't want to damage it./calm objectivity

Yeah, but the video is pretty awful, and I think they should not be able to kill animals for fur in that manner. The animals need to be put to death first.

i stopped it after like 5 seconds, after the guy hit it with the stick the 2nd time in the head.

that just isn't right. i wish i could beat that guy senseless with a stick as well. no way was i going to watch the "skinning alive" part. thanks for the posts in here, because they warned me not to watch that far.

i love animals and all, but i also took a class in college that showed us a video of how cows come from the farm to our plate. it was very graphic and showed it all. but atleast it was VERY humane and the cows don't feel any pain as they are killed, and you don't feel quite AS bad for them.

I'd buy two just to piss you off.

They just need more people like you on this planet...

Man... this is brutal..

Just imagine if someone was to tear off yoru nails (forget skin) from your body, how painful it would be.

It is for this very reason, i am a vegetarian. Thank god.

I agree 100%. The part I watched before turning it off was absolutely sickening. I think a lot of what PETA says and the way they say it are often extreme but this is a perfect example of why I'm not one of the PETA hating morons who bash them regardless of the issue.
