The bees fight like bad henchmen in a kung fu film... one at a time. They gotta all attack at the same time and aim for the hornet wings, maybe try and gnaw em off at the joint. They should attack the way ants do when they take on larger foes.

what makes that vid freak me out is I had a hornet land 2 inches from my face last night when I was laying in bed! For some reason he wasn't flying away so I grabbed an empty cup and trapped him... he didnt like it and started running laps around the parameter of the cup.. I got him onto a book still under the cup and threw him outside... freaked me out then and makes it even worse now cause I have no idea where he came from!! :Q

That video looked really fake at times. Like the Hornet's over the back view and stuff. WTF is that?

That was amazing.
They said 30 hornets killed 30,000 bees in 3 hrs.
Thats:
1000 bees per hornet;
333 bees per hour per hornet;
5.5 bees per minute per hornet;

My brother told me those Hornets are 2 inches long, with a wing span of 3 inches. They are native to Japan. But Japan didn't have any honey bees, so they brought some European Honey Bees over. Because they never evolved together, the Bee has no natural defenses against the Hornet.

I had heard that the Japanese honey bee came up wtih a defense, which is essentially a dog pile on the scout hornet. They trap him under all the bees, then the bees start wiggling. The body heat generated by doing this reaches high enough to kill the scout.
But maybe it was a different bee form somewhere else.

i think a link to it was on someone's profile. forgot the handle

It makes me want to grab a spray bottle of diazinon.

I used to kill all kinds of hornets, wasps, and yellow jackets with that stuff.

How did they get that shot where the camera is following the hornet in flight from right on top of it?

So how much of this was CG? Some--well, actually almost all--of those camera shots didn't seem possible.

that's pitiful, yet awsome, i would have bet on the bees, but they didn't want to fight too much, bummer, those japanese sure are crazy!

300 hornets will beat 30,000 honey bees. Me with a can of $10 hornet spray will kill all. :) I love spraying those fvckers with that sh!t. I've had my fair share of bee stings, and payback is great with my little spray can. :)

you mean she? ;)

the only male bees are the drones, and their only job is to mate, and they die.
