Why do you presume they are terrorists?

uh, are u kidding me? why dont you go back to school and learn some grammar. exclamation points dont mean excitement. they are just punctuation zappers, and are used as a kind of visual scream.

I guess it really doesn't prove that it was a Russian helicopter shot down by Chechen rebels but it does describe it that way here

Wow so poor quality, and i did not understand it landed or crashed, it was crashing really slow so i guess they just destroyed tail rotor.

To me, it looks like the first helicopter that passed was an Mi-8, and the one that got shot down was a Mi-24.

I don't like helicopters but that is just wrong.

Not to mention the animals pulling the trigger are having some sort of breakdown. Pity they didn't swallow their tongue and choke on it. Or perhaps they did.

I think this clip is from people fighting Russian (communist at the time) occupation.

Huh? Shooting down choppers is just an act of war, we've done it to plenty of other people, and they've done it to us. It's not like those were Red Cross rescue workers or anything.

Save the vindictiveness for real war crimes.

Obviously I don't like seeing our guys get killed (IF those are our guys), but if that makes the shooters animals, then what are we?

Well do they carry on like a donkey that got his pundee caught in an electric fence? :p

The only real enemy is war itself. Unfortunately it will never be defeated. :(

Well, if you're the underdog fighting off a much more powerful invader, you tend to get pretty excited when you manage to take down some of their heavy equipment (See, Half-Life IS educational).

Yeah, it sure would be nice if we could get over war...unfortunately, it will never happen. The most we can hope for is those who use force to use it surgically and humanely.

There is an interesting back-story on this one. During the 80?s the Regan administration was under increasing pressure to supply the Afghani mujahideen fighting the Russians with a means to take down Russian helicopters which were in most ways invulnerable to the small arms the mujahideen possessed.

Finally Regan broke down and sent Stingers to the Afghans, this despite many arguments that the weapons were too complex, too fragile etc (and of course the wisdom of those who understood the nightmare that would come later when trying to account for all of the unused munitions ? something we ended up paying millions to various ?terrorists? in a poorly organized buy back attempt years later).

This video was made for Regan and his staff as evidence of the weapons efficacy. What you don?t see in this edited version are the mujahideen descending down closer to the base and shooting the possible survivors of the crash.

The video marks an important milestone in the Russian occupation of Afghanistan. Subsequent to this and other ?shoot-downs? of helicopters the Russian pilots changed strategies. no longer willing to fly slow and low shooting at donkey laden supply lines (another great story on that one some other time) and less able to support ground troops, etc etc etc further demoralizing both the ground and air troops.
