What does the 'victim' being military have to do with anything?
Somewhere between 'jack' and 'shit.' The 'soldier' part was not what the cop took offense to. Although this would be a little more 'sensational' if the guy was in uniform (also probably wouldn't have happened).
I will admit, though, I had to laugh a little.
'You're talking to a US soldier, brah...'
'...US MARINE, BITCH!' *SLAP*
But that was pretty fucked up, and definitely more severe than a slap (which would still be unacceptable). Yeah, the dude was being a douche; so what.
I've been frustrated with, say, a retail store before. Maybe let a couple expletives slip. On a couple occasions, I've been a little riled up, but calmed down after a minute or two and apologized. 'Sorry dude, I know it's not your fault, I'm just extremely frustrated right now.'
...'Nah, it's alright man, I totally understand, we'll get this taken care of for you.'
I mean, really...that kind of response is more typical that not. $8-10/hr employees are used to people getting frustrated and upset, and can usually shrug it off. But a fuckin' cop can't? I find that absurd. (sidenote: the thought of a Best Buy employee or something yelling 'CALM DOWN SIR' and jumping across the counter to tackle an agitated customer amuses me)
He should get charged with assault.
Also I gotta identify with the guy's complaint, anyway. There are usually cops about two blocks from my house watching for people running a stop sign, or radaring cars as they come down a hill...if you make a 911 call, they dispatch someone from a station across town, and it takes forever. WTF is that about?
