thats true to a large degree. Intel, even when AMD had the architectural performance crown a couple of years back as they went from Athlon XP to the A64 chips, they still had a more or less horrid business model and frankly still do.
Its kind of sad, though off topic a bit lol, but the best thing for AMD is to be bought our by some company or group of rich investors that actually have a clue. They have a lot of good technology and ip in there, just people who run the company at the very top ie the board, well are the ones who ultimately need to go.
Intel's older chips probably never stockpile because Intel has teams of market researchers who accurately predict how many they actually fab more often than not I would speculate.
Anyway, if i do get a new CPU for this rig, and that's not definite, with deals etc, I would not spend more than 50 bucks. And even then. it would probably be better just to keep paying down my other bills.
One thing for sure though, once I get my new video card, I am going to be real happy not to have this giant fan going constantly any more and to get rid of the old CRT I have had to use as a secondary display for the last 3 months since my 19in lcd died.
