Hi all. New to the forums, long time lurker. Recently I saw a post on the Inquirer (yes, I read it with a grain of salt) that really peaked my curiosity about video card power consumption. It can be found here:

http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35768

This article stated that the maximum draw of power from a cutting edge video card (like the new G80) is about 225 watts. How can that be? A few websites I come across said the power consumption on the G80 is closer to 300. What is the limitations of PCI Express and a 6-pin PEG power connector?

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
earle

AFAIK it's 75W through the PCI-E slot and 75W through the 6-pin connector.
