I didn't think you would condone such a thing. My point was merely that there's nothing weird at all about it now being illegal. Here's another one: it's now illegal to ride a horse on the road in many areas, particularly highways. But, originally, the main purpose of horses was transportation.

Also, regarding your comment about the Japanese sword, people still use the swords for sparring & drills. Pit bulls are in a rare situation of their entire reason for their existence, brutal dog fighting, is illegal.

I doubt it. The league is trying to clean up its image, and granting special exceptions to the salary cap for players lost due to non-football-related issues seems counterproductive to that goal. This will serve as a lesson to the rest of the league about being very careful when you dedicate that much cap space to a single player.

The Falcons are hurting at QB right now. Harrington as a starter with Chris Redmond as the backup...after being out of football for two years? They lost their third-string QB for the year in the preseason game on Friday night.

It's still a drawn out process. Vick will enter his plea today in court. The judge will then set another date for sentencing. Could be another month or two.

The big question is, of course, the money. Will the NFL give the Falcons a special exception over this. The Falcons are hurting at QB right now. The best that the Falcons can hope for is a crappy season that results in a high enough draft pick to get a hopefully healthy Brian Brohm out of Louisville.

Falcons traded their good backup QB - Matt Schaub. Granted they didn't know about Vick, but they had someone in place and let him go. It's the nature of the business.

Titans lost Pacman jones for the season. Do they deserve a special exception? What about the Bungles losing their WR? I can't see the NFL doing anything about it. It wouldn't be fair to the other teams.

My dog is a Rhodesian Ridgeback who's sole purpose was to herd lions away from villages and camps in Africa. I don't see my dog doing that on a daily basis any more.

i agree it's a pretty stupid thing to do, especially when you're such a high-profile person. on the other hand, i don't understand what the big deal is. so he breeds dogs and has them fight, and the he kills them if they don't win. you know, we do much worse things to millions of other animals. we have assembly-line efficiency in cow, sheep, pig, et cetera killing. where's the public uproar over this?
