honestly, they should suspend him for atleast 1 season in the NFL no matter what. If he spends jail time, i would suspend him 2 seasons.

Vick and his buddies should get the same things done to them that they did to the dogs.

Stupid, worthless thug.

If he goes to jail for this, he'll probably be out of the league.

COLTS SUPER BOWL CHAMPS 2007!!! WOO WOO

WTF are you talking about? I can't think of another black QB who has ever been in trouble like this...

Cordell Stewart... good guy
Warren Moon (as you noted)... Good guy
Vince Young... Good guy
Donovan McNabb... Good guy
Steve McNair (minor things)... Good guys
Cleo Lemon... a nobody, but never in trouble
Seneca Wallace... Good guy
Tavarus Jackcon... Good guy
Byron Leftwich... Good guy
David Gerrard... Good guy
Doug Williams... Good guy
Randall Cunningham... Good guy
Andre Ware... Bust... But Good guy
Rodney Peete... Good guy
Jamarcus Russell... Rookie... but noting to indicate he's anything but a good guy
Troy Smith... Chris Leak... Same thing...

Your list failed to include a huge-star-to-be (crossing my fingers) black QB, Jason Campbell. He's already won a national championship in college, and has shown tons of quiet class here in the DC area. He's the anti-Vick.

Auburn hasn't won a national championship since 1958. The "People's Championship" doesn't count.

Agree with the rest about Jason Campbell though.

Yeah Daunte and even Aaron Brooks are good citizens too. ballmode is an idiot.

To play Devil's Advocate here though, at least Vick is controlling the pitbull population, those things are worthless to society. Better they bite at each other than humans I say.

That's moronic, one of the reasons pit bulls are becoming more agressive is because they are being bred by dog fighters for agression.

Heh... sorry about that. I listed everyone I could think of off the top of my head. I'm sure I missed a bunch of guys. Daunte Culpepper is another one I missed.

Expect lots of the moronic in any discussion involving pit bulls or rotweilers.

The feds don't bring a case unless they are 99 & 44/100ths percent sure they can bury you. And they aren't going after someone this high profile without believing they have an airtight MFer of a case. Vick is so hosed it's not funny.

If the charges are true he should be punished. Any competent prosecutor can indict a ham sandwich. The prosecution can bring in inadmissible testimony (supressed/hearsay/etc.), they can use any type of confession, witnessess that you can't cross-exam, etc.

Basically there is enough evidence to bring the case to trial even though half that evidence may never be used.

It never ceases to amaze me when people are shocked or surprised when these highly paid thugs get in trouble:confused: Contrary to what the teams and owners want you to think, they actually seek out these bad boys. The success of their franchise depends on how well these guys beat the living shit out of one another every sunday, you think they are looking for church boys to do that job? Hell if you look close enough almost all of these guys had run ins with the law and/or exhibited violent behavior before they were ever drafted, it only becomes a problem when the publicity gets too great to effectively cover up.

Nice try:

Benedict and Yaegar collected data concerning arrest records of 509 NFL players. Their book reports that 21 percent of 509 NFL players had been arrested for something more serious than a minor brush with the law. The Chance article calculates rates for the general population and compares them to those of the football players, and concludes that despite what may appear to be a high prevalence rate of arrests for serious offenses among NFL players, these players in fact "seem to have a lower [crime] rate than the comparable population," even though they are members of a profession that rewards violence on the football field.

There are some idiots in the NFL obviously, but there are many more that are just normal citizens.

Ha, Ha good one! where to start:confused:

Let's start with 21%, thats extraordinarly high compared to the general population. Anyone who thinks thats comparable to the general population is on crack. Add to that the fact that these guys have millions of dollars in disposable income to use in hidding/covering up their illegal activites and the % of players that are involved in these activites is most certainly much higher than 21%. Then reduce the % of criminals in the general population by those that commited theft crimes driven by poverty and the gap is even larger.

But my opinion is not derived from statistics but my own personal first hand experience. I came up through high school, college and semi-pro atheletics and even after my own atheletic career was over my jobs have kept me in associations with pro sports teams in baseball, basketball and football. And I will tell you that as much as I love these sports, money has all but ruined them IMO. The sense of entitlement and superiority starts at an early age and increases to the point where a majority of pro atheletes now beleive they are truly better than the average person and even to the point where they beleive they are above the law. Of course there are always exceptions, but I have witnessed some pretty dispicable things even from those with the highest reputations as being stand up guys.

Yeah... but the feds play a different game than the state and local guys do. This isn't another Nifong racing to snag some publicity before a big election. The feds are usually only going to indict if they feel pretty solid about their chances of securing a conviction.

Having enough money to buy the best lawyers in the world didn't help Libby, Skilling, Waksal, etc, etc... That is what Vick is looking at here. He's in deep doo doo.

I don't know I think he might I don't know how seriously they take these kinds of offenses. If they take this stuff seriously I think they will have a hard time not convicting any of them to prison times. If they sentence 2 of them to jail and Vick not...thats just not going to fly...

Because the dogs hate fighting. They lobbied congress a few decades ago to get it banned in the US I believe.

I wonder if Vick will be looking at the Cincinatti Bengals as a potential employer. Seems like he'll fit right in.

The Falcons should donate $100,000 or more to each of the following: Humane Society, SPCA, and PETA. Just do it, do it now, no questions asked.

well, i'm sure cows, pigs, etc don't like to be decapitated either, but you don't see that being illegal. in fact, if i set up cow fights or bull fights, it's not illegal. so what's the difference?

Wow, I didn't know that dogs had that kind of lobbying power in Congress. :Q

Funny how on Vick's personal website it says Birthplace: Newport News aka BadNewz...i guess he should remove that by now.

If you had ever been there you would know why the call it BadNewz.

Turn on the local news at night and you can get all the badnewz you want out of Newport News.

Yeah you know who else is from BadNews?
Allen Iverson.
Great company to be with.

Yeah I actually have lived in that portion of the country aka Hampton Roads, and Newport News (like Portsmouth) is a total shithole, nothing but ***** hoodrat infested neighborhoods and scumbags who all think they are going to be the next iverson, vick, 50 cent, half of them think that welfare and unemployment is so you can practice for the pro's without having to work...
