Vicious junior hockey hit.

It wasn't even a particularly hard hit. It was pure chance that he almost died (allegedly).

Allegedly? I know you're trying to deal with what you just saw, but any time someone is convulsing like that, they are close to brain dead.

I agree that the hit didn't look that bad, but it was straight to the head and he is missing teeth, so it was harder than it looks.

Apparently he stopped breathing for 30 seconds on the ice and the trainer thought he was going to die.

Geez, imagine being that kid's teammates who had to push him off the ice on the stretcher. I'd probably throw up.

That neck slicing on that goalie was brutal. I couldn't help but think the announcers did a HORRIBLE job handling it.

I think they misunderestimated the danger involved; and easy thing to do.

They reacted as if it was simply 'gross'.

As for Cormier, he belongs out of hockey for a long time for garbage like that.

I dunno. I thought it was pretty decent of them to cut away from the injury. some guy's got blood spurting out of his face and they basically took the camera out and cut to commercial. If it was american TV they'd be broadcasting the hit in hi-def over and over and over again. Cause nothing gets people going like blood...

I meant the announcers, not the overall broadcast.

This.

And it doesn't take nearly as much force as many believe to actually kill or permanently disable someone. A blow to the head, if at just the right angle of delivery, needs not even be as strong as a typical punch in fisticuffs.

And yet, at the same time, if a bullet goes clean in and out in many areas of the brain, you can live and even with minimal permanent disability, sometimes none.

Kid should be banned from hockey for life. Better that than have him end up in prison once he kills somebody from his stupidity of youth.
