I have a BBA X800 Pro ( R423 ) PCI-Express...what is the best cooler for it? thanks

dont count out phase change too.

for air, vf700 cu is best
vf700alcu is good, not as good at cooling but lighter.

I plan on sticking to air for a while longer.....What about those arctic silencer's? Are they as good as the Zalman?

thermalright v-1 is the best cooler, closest to good watercooling

but i have no idea if it will fit

The absolute best vga cooler is the Thermlaright V-1. W/ 2 fans its temps are near water!

Im looking all over the net now....Cannot find if it will fit the X800 pro or not though...it says...X*** series....but the mounting holes look a little off to me

Thermalright V-1 for sure. My brother's 6800NU@410/900 w/ 16 pipes, runs at ~49C under load.

Personally I have a soft spot for the Silencer coolers (ATI Silencer, NV Silencer), simply because they are extremely quiet and exhaust the hot air outside the case. While other coolers sometimes yield a bit better overclocks (eg the Zaman cooler), IMO the Silencers are a more elegant solution.

Yea, I just emailed them...not sure when they will respond though. I went to their site...but says so far only works on the XL and the 9800's

I am just deciding which one to get. Funny how easy it is to buy the card, but the cooler is the harder decision with me. Have a refurb x800xt pe in an old antec case. The zalman is easy to install, quiet and cools well (and will fit for sure). The Silencer is also almost as quiet, cools the card almost as well, but does vent the air out of the case - ensuring the ps does not work hard (can be noisy when working). Downside is the back of the card just slides under the fourth mem slot at the end. Not sure if this will conflict with the silencer or not. Anyways am leaning towards the silencer.

Well the stock fan is 31 db, so IMO that's pretty quiet. Besides, a standard 80mm fan will fit, so you could buy one for an extra ~$5. It would be better to get a slim 80x15mm one instead of the standard 80x25mm.

LoL THe VF700 will get you far better cooling. The Arctic Silencer 5 might work well too because it exhausts air out of the case (depends from case to case, but the Vf700 works better usually).

31db seems loud to me, but of course it can depend on how you measure.

The V-1 was MUCH quieter than my 6800GT's stock HSF and is slightly quieter than my eVga 7800GT's stock HSF.

I'm using the zalman vf700cu, and it cools really well. I dont care about exhausiting hot air, because I have case fans, you know? But it's really easy to install, and it works with a lot of cards. I've used it on my 9800p, now using it on a x800, and will probably use it on my next card as well. And Even when OC'd close to the limit, the temps are still better than stock cooling.

The Thermalright V1 looks like a good cooler too, but it's probably harder to install and wont fit as many cards. I guess the best way to find out is to try them all.
