anyway, so far we have:

chinese 4 is pronounced DEATH
and that he should definitely NOT do anywhere near a library (which is hard considering you drive right by one on the way to the office--he could go the back way though)
and calling the cops sounds like a good idea

any more? This is getting pretty interesting, albeit strange

`K

Yea, dust the envelopes for fingerprints.

Pretty much pointless, though worth a shot. Unless you live in a small-ish city and the mail was sent within that city you're going to find probably 25 different prints from the people who handled it on the way to its destination. Which brings up an interesting point: if the person sending the letters was a post office worker and as such is expected to handle the letters, wouldn't you overlook him?

Not me. If I were the detective I would bust down the door of all 25 people and anyone with the Clue game anywhere in their home/apartment would immediately be cuffed and taken downtown.

new info: one of the envelopes had an upside down 4 where the return address should have been

Not if they're textured envelopes you won't. The top part of the clue board would be your best shot.

Anywho, a criminal profiler would be able to make much more sense of all this than any of us. But aside from anything else the Chinese link is probably the best to go on because of the number 4.

Good lord no kidding. I went there after I graduated high school. The lobster was incredible but I felt like I was in the Undiscovered Territory or something. I think its the trees everywhere, blocking all hopes of getting a long view of the land, that really cement the feeling.

Anyway, you may have more luck then, though it may be hard to find someone who speaks Chinese near where you are.

Whoa... this is really interesting. Babelfish has professional translation for a fee, it might be worth a shot to get them to tell you all the meanings for the word which can be said to mean death.

if you google it up and check out the number 4 in chinese, you can find some great stuff. It can mean "death," or "must die" or "easy to die." Four seems to be quite an unlucky number.

Also freaky, is that 14, and 24 are also quiet unlucky, and mean "death" as well. Two days from now is the 24th....

Naw, screw that, I'll just stroll my happy ass over to the foreign language department and get someone who speaks Chinese if you need me to. My Japanese professor is Chinese, though she's out for today; I could ask her tomorrow if I can't find anybody today.

Your Japanese professor is Chinese?? Now that is strange.

My Spanish teacher last year was Yugoslavian and my English teacher was born in Israel and raised in South Africa. Not too uncommon.
