It is long but it is a very good read. I had to stop and take a break from reading it in the middle, then I went back to it. You got to give the kid a lot of respect for continuing to do what he is doing. :)

No from what I remember, the dad started to point the gun at him. And lets say the dad was running away, are you really going to press charges on the kid?

That was really sad. It sounded like there was a very real possibility that their mother was thinking of leaving their father... after his years of unemployment that seemed to get him depressed, maybe that threw him over the edge? Very sad, though. Those kids are amazing.

From what I could tell, the dad points the gun at his sons, the kid shoots the dad in the hip, dad starts running, kid shoots again (in anger?)...

the sister is a looker

didn't read the article yet, but from the posts, it seems like the dad is bipolar and shot his kid?

No, shot his wife, the mother. Kids then shot the dad.

If I was the older brother, I would just collapse after shooting my own dad. Especially if he was a good guy most of the time. I don't know how I could live with myself, even if it wasn't my fault.

that isnt too far from where i went to high school...man that really sucks, i really feel for them.

This goes to show that we need to understand and work on mental disorders...because as a society, we just tend to label them insane.

Clearly it's sickness, no other explanation. It's like their upper brains just shut off, taking reason, love and compasion along.

I read that article because it was linked from TheDevilsDen (Duke sports message boards). I immediately thought of that article when I read the title. I'm very surprised such an article has been posted on more than one message board, since I don't know how many people read page2.

Corey fired twice in self-defense, hitting Andrew once in the hip and once in the back as he tried to run, the gun still in his hand.

I won't claim to know what the law says about this but it seems obvious to me that if your aggressor is still armed with a gun as they turn and run from you, then they are still a valid target.

There is no way to tell if the man was running away or just running to take cover so he could continue to attack.
