Some like it that way... as to not accidentally hit the reset button.

Would very much like to find a source that is including the side fan bracket.

As for modifying the front for a 120mm fan.... there is no modification needed. However.. you may not be able to use the "upper" hard drive bracket (I only used the lower bracket, as I wanted to keep my hard drives in front of the fan to keep em nice and cool).

My 120mm fan attached to (2) holes using the barrell type (headless) fan attach screws (you can find them at you local computer shop).
Went right in without any modifications. AND there is plenty of front ventillation to feed the fan.

I do wish Newegg sold the case with the side fan mounting bracket.

 
HardwareAddicted, you mentioned you baught this case without PSU and I also read in the newegg reviews (granted from just one guy called "N/A") the PSU only works with <= 1.2G and not XPs etc. I am sure this is just blabber since there have seen multiple reports here and at newegg about XP1600+ and 1700+ being run even with multiple peripherals. Still, never hurts to double-check! 🙂

However, this brings up a good question about the PSU and the newegg listing for it: Enhance ATX1125BTA 300W P4 ready power is what the product info says whie also saying that the case is Intel/AMD ready. What is that supposed to mean? Are the XP mbs (ATX) usable in this case but the PSU is not guarenteed to work with AMD? Also, I am confused on what a safe PSU rating for the top-of-the-line AMD CPUs is. There used to be a time when 250W was fine for a system and that changed 1-2 years ago when 300W came to become the minimum requirement. Has the story changed with the new 😀juice-suckers😀 from AMD?

Since I got windows XP the reset button is no longer needed .Finally Microsoft bring out an os half decent.
 
Not a bad case. My friend just got this one and it's pretty sweet. The power supply isn't noisy, so that won't be a problem.

I think you aren't getting it. "screwless" refers to not having to use screws to install drives or PCI cards, etc..

This case needs NO screws to install your drives (floppy/CDROM/DVDROM/HARD DRIVES, etc), and also does not need screws to install your PCI/AGP cards. Also the case comes apart (side panel has release clips), without having to unscrew any screws. You can get into the case without a screw driver. And you can install all of your periphs without a screwdriver. Thus this case is considered truly "screwless".

Many prefer a VERY small "reset" button. With the later Windows OS, you normally cannot shut down your computer via the on/off button anymore. However you CAN reset your OS using the "reset" button. If you or a small child happen to accidentally hit a larger "reset" button... it could be at a very inopportune time. Many like knowing the "reset" button cannot be reset by accident. Thus many prefer a small (hard to push) reset button.

Hi, sorry I'm just now getting back to you regarding the case you were looking at. The one you linked to on ebay is ok, but at $24 + $18 shipping brings you to $42, I'd much rather spend $13 more and get this awesome case that was mentioned in the forums.

The reset button is kind of a pain, but the power supply that comes with it has a on/off switch so its not that big of a pain. Also, just holding down the power button for ~8 seconds turns it off from the front so there are ways around it. There is no way to get to the reset button without using a pointed object though.

I would definately recommend this case.
 
Hmmmm one side case fan is $7 and the other is $9. They look to be the same.. but the #'s are different.

Anyone find out why they have (2) different prices, etc.?

I got mine a few days ago. Didn't think about fans at the time. Followed the links in this thread, but it appeared that shipping was gonna double the price of the "official" fans offered there. I ordered some 80mm fans and accessories from www.1coolpc.com instead. This is the old 3dfxcool company. I would have liked to have ordered a 120mm fan, but 1coolpc warned that the one they offered was pretty loud. It would be nice to find one at a lower RPM to cut the noise but still move a lot of air.

A couple posts earlier in this string mentioned that one review at the Newegg site complained about a noisy power supply, while another poster there suggested adding a resistor to reduce the noise. The poster wanted to know where to put that resistor.

I cannot comment on the noise level, since I am still several weeks away from plugging mine in. But the resistor bit bugs me. I've used one to slow down (quiet down) a cooling fan in a high-power audio amplifier that I own. You simply cut in to the line feeding the DC to the fan and splice it into place. The result is lower DC voltage to the fan. Lower voltage, in turn, means lower RPMs, and that means a quieter fan. It also means less cooling, since a slower fan moves less air, but it kept my amp cool enough, and that was all that mattered.

Now, I don't claim to be Mr Electronics Guy, but the idea of putting a resistor into an AC line to the power supply strikes me as at least stupid, and possibly even dangerous. If this works at all, it will work to reduce the voltage to the power supply. That, in turn, should mean the power supply either puts out less power or just does not work at all. Neither sounds to me like a good tradeoff for less noise.

My guess is that the guy who suggested putting in the resistor meant to say (even though he did not come close to actually saying it) that the power supply fan could be quited down by putting a resistor in the fan's DC voltage line. If so, he was correct, though the side effects would be less RPMs, less air moved and, therefore, more heat. Whether or not that is safe is beyond my ken. I suspect that about the worst thing that could happen would be that the power supply would someday overheat and fail, necessitating the purchase of a new and quieter power supply. Then again, I suppose it could catch fire...

 

damn this is tempting, but, i don't like the tiny reset button, and adding the side fan and hd bracket raises the price $12.

i'll probably still hold out for my an antec sx635
 
Anyone put the ECS K7S5A in this case? I'm having trouble putting the front panel USB jumpers into the mobo. The mobo book doesn't tell you crap. Any help would be appreciated.

Can'r help you with the tiny reset button, but the case comes with two HD brackets. Do you need a third? As for fans, most any 80mm fan should mount easily enough.

Be warned that Newegg seems to add a separate shipping charge for each item and those charges can add up fast.

Im building a nbew comp starting with the soyo dragon plus + athlon XP 1700+ fry's deal that i found on the forum ($249)
Looking to get this case from newegg. Could someone tell me what sort of cooling i would need for this system?
what is good (other that the alpha 8045 which is over $50) and what about case fans? people suggest panaflo 80 mm fans is this good?
also could someone point me to links about building a computer?
sorry for being OT but hopefully this will help newbies like me?

This case looks nice. Im looking for a nice case for my amd 1900+ and soyo dragon. Im going to be using the raid controller as well as have another hdd or 2 in the system. On top of that ive got a 24x burner, cdrom, audigy, and geforce. Is 300w going to be enough juice? Ive been looking for at lease 340.
