Wow, I can't even grasp this. I thought maybe it was some sort of gang retaliation attack but this guy was really methodical and seemingly calm about this attack. I just don't get it. The victim was obviously random. I wonder if this was some sort of twisted gang initiation? Everything about this is confusing. I can't believe it was this well planned but he couldn't get the lighter to light. On the flip side, he carried a molotov cocktail as a backup!

I came back to edit my post because I hadn't finished reading the entire thread to see the update where the guy turned himself in and more details were released.

That's my stance. I wouldn't have an issue with it in /this/ case, but you can't make laws for individual people, or circumstances. They'll be twisted, and abused as those in power see fit.

Exactly. That's why the death penalty is bullshit. There's too much institutional fraud, and plain old mistakes to be sentencing people to death. Prison sentences can be revoked. Death, not so much.
