Blegh. Personally I think it's a ridiculous and stupid design. The wheelbase is incredibly long, the riders ass is way in the back while their feet & hands are all the way in the front. Can't see how in the hell that's comfortable or even somewhat maneuverable.

I'll stick with my standard style sportbike.

I too think its an awesome looking bike and I dont really care that much for bikes like I used to... Of course I always wanted a Yamaha Vmax, who cares how it handled the straight line speeds were just crazy if you could keep it in a straight line...

That's why they make different bikes. Personally, I find sport bikes to be ugly as an old mans ass.
That Rod has style, lots and lots of style. It's an absolutely beautiful machine and I'd love to own it.

That looks fantastic, althought the v-rod is phenomenally proportioned as-is.

It's not supposed to be comfortable, it's supposed to be practical. Long wheel base keeps the front tire down while boosting and sitting position keeps the rider as low down as possible.

It's a turbo bike after all.

Looks cool but I think if I were to get a cruiser style bike I'd get the Ducati Diavel.

This thing apparently corners well too!

That's why I said I personally dont find the design appealing or the bike as a whole very practical. I recognize that the design is sound and I understand why it has a super long wheelbase.

Again, Practical design...yes. Practical machine...no.

I can also see the majority of the people riding one of these not wearing any sort of protective gear and I don't agree with that. But that's there choice, just like it's their choice to spend a large amount of money on a bike like this one.

EDIT: Couldn't find any performance specs. Any ideas?

Not sure what you'd call it then. What do you call the B-King or the V-Max?

A sport bike or crotch rocket. A cruiser is for cruising as in laid back, open riding style as opposed to hunched over, kiss your balls goodbye. The handlebars reach for you instead of the other way around.

The V-Max and the Diavel both look more comfortable than the V-Rod actually.

the Vmax is definitely not a sportbike. an R6, a GSXR, or ZX6R is a sportbike. the Vmax is a muscle bike/cruiser.

I didn't say it was a good sport bike. The looks and ergonomics of a bike define it's category not it's function. I've ridden for a long time and don't know of any long time bikers who'd label the Ducati or Vmax as a cruiser. When in doubt, I defer to the Huns. :D

Uh the Vmax is a cruiser it just cruises at a high rate of speed...

But of all the bikes I`ve had in the past this was my favorite... A sport bike in street clothes...

right, and what are the looks and ergonomics of a sportbike? aggressive seating position, shifter/brakes behind the hips (typically), fully faired, and a sleek/aerodynamic style. which of those does a vmax satisfy?

if "going fast" is the definition of a sportbike, then by equivalence a Challenger SRT8 is in the same category as a ferrari.

Assuming no engine upgrades other than the turbo, it should be around 160 pony's where the rubber meets the road. That's assuming eight pounds of boost. You can get quite a bit more out of them with increased boost, but you give up reliability. Handling is more of a guess. He reduced the front end rake with custom triple trees, installed Ohlins forks and rear shocks, moved his pipe up, and it looks like he trimmed the radiator shroud. It's probably around a 38 degree lean angle, maybe a bit more. Stock is 34. It will never be a canyon carver, but it was never intended to be.

The only thing I'd change on that bike is the turbo. I'd dump it (assuming I had a bucket of money I needed to use up in a hurry) and make it into a 1440cc stroker. You'd get the same horsepower without all the plumbing.

If I didn't think I would kill myself within a week on a bike I would have a vrod. I've always loved the look of them.

It's a sweet machine Jules, but it just doesn't ring my bell. I've never been a fan of Duc styling, though I've always respected their performance.
