Verizon: wait until June/July or splurge now?

I am moving to Verizon like soon. How long until these Tegra 2 phones show up?

Just went to a Verizon store yesterday and the manager said she's thinking the Bionic and Thunderbolt should be available the first week of February...

Never believe anything they say. I guarantee that by reading the forums online, you are more informed than they are. Do not trust any release dates until you have seen official (yet still unofficial) leaked documents citing a date. Even then, it is still sketchy.

I doubt any of these phones get released before the iPhone anyway. I bet it will be at least a month after the iPhone until these new phones drop. Apple probably made some sort of exclusivity deal. This is just speculation on my part.

Well that would certainly be a welcome surprise, but it seems like we'd know more about them by now if they were going to be out in 2 weeks?

Re: other posts, yes the Bionic is Tegra 2, and while the Atrix netbook dock thing is a cute feature, it's really not quite ready for prime-time and isn't going to be a huge selling point with most - including me. I'm more sad about the RAM.

After watching the reviews and demos of the Atrix docking features, I didn't really feel it was all that practical. It seems like a good idea in theory but how often would you actually be using it like that? And the only reason the Atrix has more RAM is for these docking features. Keep in mind too that even though the Bionic will "only" have 512 mb, it is DDR2 RAM and has the same dual core processor. If anything, I bet the Bionic will be just as snappy and have better battery life.

I currently use a BB Tour and have loved it. However, I think I am ready to step up to a phone with a larger screen, much better internet browsing and simply a better overall user experience. I am leary of switching over to a touchscreen keyboard, considering the Tour (Bold) has absolutely the best physical keyboard, IMO, on the market. My contract ends in April, which'll hopefully coincide nicely with the release of the Bionic.

TBH i hope the Droid X2 rumors are true id like a new phone and such but getting a LTE phone would be a waste as we wont see it for 2+ years where I am

a 3G Tegra 2 phone would be killer

in 2 weeks the iphone 4 will be out. if you must get a phone, that would probably be it. if you can wait, some 4G phones will arrive by march i think... looking at the summer for dual core android phones though.

The Iphone is supposed to be released Feb 3 for current Verizon customers and Feb 10 for everyone else. There really is no reason why The TB and the other phone that are being rumored to drop at around the same time won't drop within a week or two won't. I believe Apple will get the Iphone out first then the other phones will come out. The rest of the droids and the iphone 5 will wait until the summer. Otherwise Verizon will screw themselves. The Iphone 4 is old news and requires a 2 year commitment to purchase. The TB does not. Drop the IP4 and a bunch of people that must have it will buy it. That locks them into the contract. A week or two later, drop the TB and a ton more buy that, some for a year contract and then upgrade either within 6 months or wait out the year or whatever. I desperately need a phone and will be switching to Verizon. I would consider the Iphone if a one year plan was an option like on other phones.

Thunderbolt two weeks after the iphone. It's not dual core, but it's LTE.

I have an iPhone 4 on AT&T this phone will be replacing. I ended up getting an HTC incredible. I really liked the iPhone 4, but hated AT&T. But the Incredible seems like a pretty solid phone as well.

I'd really hold out for the Bionic. I mean c'mon...a couple more months aren't gonna kill ya.

You could always buy a used Droid or Incredible, and roll with that for awhile until something worth re-upping and using your upgrade on comes out. Pretty sure either one should be an upgrade over the Storm 😉
