Verizon: wait until June/July or splurge now?

I've had an upgrade available since November, but decided to wait until something awesome came out (dual core, LTE, etc.)... but the projected release schedule for dual core phones is discouraging. So... should I get an iPhone (Feb. 3 pre-order), one of the new LTE android devices (probably end of March), or wait for an iPhone refresh or Droid Bionic (in the summer)?

I am currently on a Blackberry Storm, which is of course, an abysmal experience as far as touch screen smartphones go.

Wait, the new iPhone and Android phones are not that far away. If you get any phone right now you'll regret getting a phone right now.

Another half year with a BB Storm would be painful, but it'll be worth the wait. Wait for Dual core Android/iPhone devices.

It is, look up the Droid Bionic. Nearly the same phone, with less RAM and no web dock.

I wish it would come here before the summer, then.

edit: also, Atrix has 1gb ram versus Droid Bionic's 512mb of DDR2 ram (dunno if Atrix is using DDR2?)

Just went to a Verizon store yesterday and the manager said she's thinking the Bionic and Thunderbolt should be available the first week of February...

The question is, how will Verizon deal with 4G prices? Not for the phones, but for the data plans. If you did get a 4G phone, like the Bionic and Thunderbolt, are you going to HAVE to pay for a 4G plan?

Wouldn't put it past them in any way. It`s more money for them. Just like with Sprint, even if you don't have access to 4G. Verizon is the worst carrier when it comes to control. It`s a 4G phone, you pay 4G prices.

I am on a 3GS with ATT.

I have no issues with the serviced where I live and work. So I will stick with them.

As of right now I will be going with the atrix when is out, the only reason I will stick with apple is if the get a bigger screen and comparable hardware with the Atrix.

It's a great year to choose a mobile device.

Well that would certainly be a welcome surprise, but it seems like we'd know more about them by now if they were going to be out in 2 weeks?

Re: other posts, yes the Bionic is Tegra 2, and while the Atrix netbook dock thing is a cute feature, it's really not quite ready for prime-time and isn't going to be a huge selling point with most - including me. I'm more sad about the RAM.

I agree, seems like info would've been leaked about its release if it was that imminent. I hope she's right though!

I'm with ya on the Atrix too; nifty-lookin capability, but I doubt it will be fully-utilized and/or useful as we're all hoping.

I'd wait. To much good stiff coming out to get stuck with the iPhone 4. Pick up a new dual core Android shortly or wait until summer for the iPhone 5.

i agree.... wait, then again... if you have money to burn, it doesn't matter. Many new devices will be release in 2011.

You don't want a BB Storm 3? 🙂

I can't believe the Bionic isn't going to be here until June. And I assume the same thing for the rest of the Verizon LTE phones announced at CES. Seriously considering switching to AT&T and getting an Atrix...superior phone, 4 months earlier.
