Verizon iphone 5S and straight talk

I saw that straight talk could provide service for half the price. I went to the website and entered my IMEI number and zip code and the site says "Good News, your phone is compatible with straight talk to buy an activation kit if you want to switch. So I run to Walmart and buy the kit for $65. I open it up and try to register my cdma byop and it says coverage is not available in my area. I chat with support and they tell me iphone 5S is not supported. I point out that the website told me I was good to go and that they sell iPhone 5S phone on their website. Customer service says the phone is compatible but not eligible. How the hell would I know that. Your site said go buy a kit. Now Walmart won't take it back and straight talk won't refund me. I'm out $65 with a kit I can't use.

Anyone know if this is just a case of the support guys not knowing what's up? What can I do here?

Straight talk is a mvno that runs on multiple networks (depending on which Sim you get)

They use att, T-Mobile, sprint and Verizon. Typically, they'll push you towards a specific provide based on your zip code(that's why some people input a different zip code to get the desired provider)

Looks like your device would work on gsm (I.e. att/T-Mobile) because its unlocked, but straight talk doesn't want you going on verizon and rather see you on att/tmobile (because it costs them more) and straight talk doesn't activate LTE phones on Verizon afaik

yea if you want to use ATT or T-mobile you should be good.
I'd say go with one or the other. Whichever gives you better speed and coverage.
If you don't talk much T-mobile has the 100min 5gb LTE data for $30 month.

If you talk a lot Cricket//MetroPCS has unlimited plans with good amount of data.
