The lesson here should be properly educating people in civics and always aiming to pursue honesty in our endeavors, not to corrupt the system and people because they are distracted/ignorant enough or stupid enough to do so.

For Trump, it is about the oil....because he doesn't have a f'n clue how shit works. He thinks that US companies will gladly pour in a shit ton of $$$, completely rebuild their oil infrastructure in a few short months, then start dumping all that oil on the world markets and tank their profit margins because "it's good for the US". Oh, and it will all get done in time for the Nov mid-terms.

From what I've seen from people with alleged first-hand knowledge of people in the oil industry, oil people don't want to touch Venezuelan oil. Beyond the infrastructure issues, most Venezuelan oil is high-sulfur and generally more expensive to process. At current oil prices, it just makes zero economic sense. Never mind all the other issues of someone coming along in a few months/years and just expropriating all your investments and sending you straight to jail or worse.
 
Trump's familiar tactic: Break the laws of the land, then drag it all out in court long enough for it to reach the Conservative run SCOTUS where they will claim he has immunity because everything he says and does is official gov't business.

Can't wait to see a Democrat House and Senate go up against Trump and his conservative enablers over at the SCOTUS and his handlers at the Federalist and Heritage Boy's Clubs. In some ways Trump's bromances with Putin and Epstein is a distraction from what's quietly going on with Trump the Autocrat and the deals he's brokering with the oligarch Plutocrats.

So the US will export Sweet Crude shale and import high sulfur content oil from abroad to refine.

Most US refineries are optimized to process high sulfur content oil which is cheaper per barrel than the light shale crude that we export. So we export light shale oil and import high-sulfur content oil.

Trump, today, made it very clear that the US is simply stealing the oil. This is the invasion and looting of a country.

The job is not even done yet, Venezuela still has to be conquered and kept pacified. Cannot see Trump actually committing to either task. But Trump did speak of "boots on the ground" today. Trump is speaking of a FULL SCALE Iraq war style invasion. This has not yet occurred. We're not even prepared to do that right now. Suppose he thinks he can threaten Venezuela and they will just surrender. At what point will Trump TACO and this will all be for nothing?

Fentanyl, the chemicals are produced in China. Shipped to the USA and Mexico and there fentanyl is prepared. Then the fentanyl is sold in the USA. But in Europe it can be found as well now.
Venezuela seems to have nothing to do with fentanyl production.

I know that long ago USA based oil companies exploited the oilfields in Venezuela , then the oilfields and companies were nationalized. And now the oligarchs oilfriends of Trump, like for example Aramco or Halliburton wants those oilfields again. Venezuela gets hardly anything from the profit made. Not then, not in the near future.

Price per barrel of oil are set by worldwide market forces. It really depends on how cheap it will be to get Venezuelan oil out of the ground and onto the worldwide market. This will highly depend on how well security can be established in Venezuela and I don't have high confidence.

If the price per barrel of oil remains low then this have negative impact on US Shale Oil which needs oil above $50+ a barrel to pump out of the ground to make a profit.
