Polymarket (and all the BS sports gambling that initially led to this) and crypto - continuing to be a realm for degenerate gamblers and illegal activity. Just nothing redeemable about those two things (including rampant sports gambling) and should both be categorically outlawed. If you want to do random gambling, you should have to go to some shitty bar in the part of town where your legs will get broken or head to a Vegas casino.

Knocking over a half dozen or so governments to our immediate south I'm sure will have no negative repercussions.
Well Miller needs a steady influx of immigrants to deport and the repubs need it so they can keep the rubes voting for deportations and people love a wartime
President it’s like a law so damn the consequences full speed ahead.

It does occur to me this is a good way to damage our military. If I’m graduating from HS now no way in hell am I signing up to participate in wars of choice.

They are not even trying to manufacture political or even popular support for these actions. Which is really a theme for just about everything the admin does.

I'm not opposed in principle to the idea of a physical sports book in a given city but people should not be able to bet their kid's college tuition on insane parlays by clicking a few buttons on their phones.

True. I’m expecting independent support to drop towards liberal support of Trumps policies in the next poll. Although I would be happily surprised if there wasn’t a Pavlovian uptick in conservative support.

Ok, so the silver lining here, maybe, is that Trump at least had the sense to just go knock off the guy at the top instead of full blown invasion and killing 5 million people.

So from that perspective, OK. Credit where it's due, this is definitely a better use of the military from a utilitarian perspective than full blown invasion.

OTOH, we might just be about to discover why that doesn't work when you just end up with new guys on top and a bunch of people who now support them out of national pride.

OTOOH we've been told so many times that everything Trump does is going to blow up and ruin everything and it... Kinda hasn't so Trump might be dumb, but I'm starting to wonder if the heads of other nations are actually dumber.

But like President AOC snatches Bibi from Tel Aviv and delivers him hog tied to The Hague is the flip side of this.
Yeah, from this precedent, attacking and decapitating the State of Israel is just another Tuesday for the US President to randomly and unilaterally decide on their own.

Whats to stop someone from snatching trump and vance? Everyone and anyone is fair game based on these actions (yes i know theres the practicality, or lack of, for such things)

Yes, I expect a bump in Trump voters approval for such action and Indies to dip. The former usually somewhat comes on board even if they didn't like the idea before because they love orange man and can't quit him.

So this the point where Tom Cruise drops in from the roof and saves the day right?

Right?
This is the part where the word declares war on the United States. Because it has to for its own survival.
I mean, they won't do it out of fear. But I expect we're heading much closer to it in the future. With plans being drawn and acted upon to prepare for war.
Because we are so powerful militarily, the early reaction is going to be asymmetrical. We'll call it terrorism.

To me, this highlights Trump's stance on Putin and Ukraine. Ukraine et. al. for Putin, Venezuela et. al. for Trump.

Modified in the sense that Trump, as he's discovered, cannot really make the Ukrainians (or Euros) do everything he wants. There just are not the same levers. Like he can't attack France just because Macron won't stop supplying weapons to Kyiv.

Clearly this is an act of war. Talking about running Venezuela. With what fucking ground troops. Here we go with another another needless war by the GOP.

And rambling on sending troops back to American cities…

It was mentioned earlier in this thread, but it needs more attention.
Trump flat out declares the same thing will be done to Mexico.

The Americas are at war.

Trump: 'Something Is Going To Have To Be Done With Mexico'

Not gonna happen. Completely different scenarios.
Shieinbaum is a very popular and was democratically elected. Maduro is a dictator who was voted out in a landslide, but illegally stayed in power.

Complete amateur hour: they didn't even bother briefing the appropriate committees.

And from another post, Trump is claiming "inherent constitutional authority" to use the military as he did... why even have a Congress? We should wrap the Founding Fathers in some copper wire to generate free electricity as they roll over at ever increasing speeds in their graves. Never in their wildest dreams would they have ever thought that current House and Senate leaders (ie, Johnson and Thune) would give up their core powers for a lawless executive.

Edit:

A gigantic arsenal of nukes that Maduro didn't have to protect him from American aggression.

This press conference is fucking BONKERS.

I don't know how you can watch this fucker ramble, stammer, repeat himself, and not think his brain is tapioca.
