Are we talking baseball or real senators and roman legions?

i remember they had actors dressed up like that as well for arena events

Clearly you missed the Knight chopping Winnepeg's Jet in half...

And yes, it is silly and ridiculous but you have to understand it's a new team in a city built on showiness. They're pumping up the crowd, trying to grab interest from people new to hockey and especially kids. That stuff is important to building a new franchise. Most locals will agree it's silly and ridiculous but there's still an endearing quality to the pregame show, and yes, it actually is less dumb when you're in the arena. Everything about this team's first season is a spectacle, this isn't any different.

And since my Kings were eliminated after reverting to Terry Murray hockey 6 years later, I'm all in on the local team. They've been more fun to watch all season anyway. Go Knights!

Vegas Golden Knights better have something really big planned for Thursday because they bout to lose 4 in a row after getting SMASHED last night!

Yea and the openings were a lot more normal lol, although I have no clue who the band was last night playing outside.

Fallout Boy. I don't know their songs or anything. The Joe Gibbs led chant was legendary on Saturday, and last night with the 2 star Nationals players leading it, decked out in full hockey gear, was pretty awesome too.

I may head down there to watch outside and participate in the festivities on Thursday.

There are multiple factors that come into play when discussing GOAT when it comes to goal scoring, including the era. It's kind of like how comparing QB's in the NFL from the 90's to now is almost not comparable due to the way the game has changed.

Here's a quick article I found when talking about him as the GOAT in goal scoring.

https://www.si.com/nhl/2016/03/02/alex-ovechkin-washington-capitals-greatest-nhl-goal-scorers

It's 2 years old but you can probably find more recent ones if you looked hard enough.

And again, I said "arguably" so it's definitely up for debate either way.

yeah, i was curious because I had been hearing that, and not really paying much attention to Hockey for the last decade or so, I thought that was odd and did some rudimentary checking, and was wondering what kind of numbers they were talking about. I also thought that for the most part, Ovi was too old to be able to catch those standard numbers, like total goals.

Interesting read

I will be headed down to DC at 5pm to partake in the festivities outside of the arena tonight. I plan on watching it with the hoards of other people outside.

Not sure if everyone heard, but the 70k tickets allocated to the viewing party in Capital One arena were sold out on Ticket Master in less than 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure a lot of those were bots though since there are so many for "resale" which is dumb because they were free through TM. I tried right at 1pm yesterday but the site was glitchy until it said they were all sold out.

Ahh cool looks to be a heckuva a party. Is metro open late tonight?

AWESOME. finally. I'm still in shock.

Seems to be a thing for ladies at hockey games lately of showing their breast pressed against the glass. You can find the uncensored version online if you really need to.

Last night was insane in DC. I cannot believe how many people were out there. The energy in the crowd and of everything is something I'll never forget. Now to go to the parade!!

So I took a quick look at hockey reference at adjusted Gretzky's scoring by the league averages from his career timespan to Ovechkin's....

Ovechkin averages 46.6/season and Gretzky's adjusted goal scoring is 37.

Goal scoring average during Gretkzky's career was 3.4975 vs 2.825 today. Big difference.

Can't really account for Gretzky's assist numbers though. Those are crazy.

The video of Burakovsky's reaction to her was hilarious. She looks like a sugar baby to the guy in the suit.

20+ years a Caps fan in NY and it was surreal living through these playoffs with them believing in themselves (especially after the Pens series). Wish it wasn't $800+ a seat or my whole family would've been down there in a heartbeat. The parade is a question-mark... not sure if it's worth a 4-hr trip either.

I can't. 🙁

I follow Burakovsky on twitter and he follows a whole bunch of hot models. Alexis Ren & Victoria Sylwander to name a couple. He's definitely a 20-something red-blooded male. Orpik's reaction really surprised me for an older guy. Carlson looked like he appreciated it but didn't want to get in trouble with the wifey.

The Prince of Wales trophy is a glorious looking work of art. The Conn Smythe looks like an 8th grade project.

I just got around to watching the after stuff on the replay now. I got a creeper when Ovi was presented with the cup. The elation and emotion that guy had was just awesome to witness. And top it off with the epic music they are playing as he's doing his best Braveheart impression while holding it above his head, holy shit that was awesome to witness. And then he calls over "Nicky" to share the moment with. Truly a very special moment that I'll never forget.

And damn, not sure if everyone saw Oshie's post game interview, but that shit would give the toughest man creepers watching that. A very touching moment from a very humble dude.

Anyone watching the parade rally or go down? Lots of folks down there.

lol all the caps are dancing on the stage awesome.
