I'm getting my junk cut soon. I have the consultation tomorrow and am quite nervous. Anyone here gone through it? What can I expect, how was recovery? Tell me everything is going to be ok. :)

I see the doctor tomorrow, but I wanted to hear from anyone who actually has had the procedure done.

No, you don't. One of the old threads here about it nearly gave me nightmares.
I'm probably going in myself in a couple months, once the insurance kicks in at this new company.

Chill out on the couch for a couple of days. and ice the crap out of them.

I had it done and was sore for about 3 days. After a week, I was entirely back to normal.

The doctor wouldn't give me pain meds, so I had to buy tylenol on my way out of the hospital. :(

I drove myself there and home...

Much less of an ordeal than wisdom teeth, by the way.

Is the wifey having you neutered?

They put me under for my wisdom teeth... and I was basically 100% back to normal the next day. For some reason, I'm more comfortable with somebody poking about in my mouth with a drill than I am with someone swinging a very tiny, yet very sharp blade down there ;)

Well, I had all 4 widsom teeth done at once (2 impacted) and lived. I have oxycodone already for my back, so that should take care of any pain. But, I am quite nervous about a knife down there. :p My buddy had it done, but he was able to somehow convince the doc to put him under completely, so he hasn't been a big help on what to expect from the actual procedure.

I plan on doing it on a Friday so I would be back at work on Monday or Tuesday if I'm still not up for it Monday.

Mostly. :p It's a decision we made. She had a c-section but we didn't know we were done then otherwise we'd have had her fixed at the same time. It's a lot more risky for them to tie her tubes then for me to get the vasectomy. Now if she ends up pregnant in a few years, she'll have some explaining to do.... :p

Had mine done a few years ago. First he gave me a little pill to help relax, then used a local to freeze the area in question.

He spent the whole time talking and joking, which really helped keep my mind off of what he was doing. I felt a couple of tugs but no pain. After he was done, he gave me a few tylenol 3's to take home and I drove off.

I spent the next two days sitting around watching TV and playing computer games with a bag of frozen peas keeping the swelling down. Back to work on Monday and with just a few days of not being too active, I was back to normal.

All in all it was no big deal. ... and no, we did not eat the frozen peas.

Thanks D1gger. I wish all the replies were like that. :p I think that'll be similar to what I do, take pain meds and do nothing for 2-3 days.

when i got snipped the nurse came in with a BIG fricken syringe with a 2" needle. my eyes got big, a beads of sweat popped up on my forehead and i timidly asked her.

Me:"just where do you plan on sticking me with that"

her: your butt, its just to help you relax.

me: sighs with relief.

bye bye baby batter.

I produce as much fluid, but it doesn't seem as thick... I never payed that much attention anyway though.

It's really nice not to have to consider birth control. :D

This was pretty much my experience (had my snip snip on Dec 8th, 2006). However, my doctor was merciful and gave me a few days of hydrocodone 5/500 pills. One of those with a single extra strength acetaminophen was plenty for the pain. Get some frozen peas or corn and wrap in a towel for an ice pack (buy one of each so you can alternate cold packs). The ice pack did more for the pain than the drugs ever did for me.

The actual procedure is mainly only painful when they give you the local anesthetic, and that seriously feels like a kick in the junk...you've been warned. However, I'm looking forward to a 2nd negative in early March and subsequently not worrying about birth control of any kind whatsoever for the rest of my days.:D

Pretty much same experience here though I didn't get any Tylenol 3's. Thankfully I had my supply of Canadian Tylenol. Between those and the frozen pea's everything was fine. I've heard Jack Daniel's and frozen pea's work well too. :D
Don't worry, you'll be fine.

well, i know the fluid doesn't dry up, but there isn't any baby-making part (sperm) to it anymore.
