long winded post snipped

All I see from you is seething jealousy that some people can afford not one but multiple $1k cards while you're still stuck on 7970s. And yes, I did buy multiple generations of AMD cards and while the hardware was fine, the software was trash. This is why I stay away from their products, not because I have an inherent dislike of the company itself (it's just another money grabbing company like NVIDIA). I'd hate NVIDIA products just as much if I had the same amount of issues with them but fortunately I do not.

But this isn't about me, this is about AMD and their Fury X being originally positioned by many as a Titan X killer and now 980 Ti just ruined all their plans.

Bye now...

I see no such thing and even if he was not willing or able to afford such hardware that is not for you to pass judgement on and mock him for it. Not cool bro.

This is of your invention we don't know anything about the actual performance from AMD.

Thats opinion being pushed around as a fact. Nobody knows about Fiji XT performance. Those that do are not talking as they are under NDA (AIB partners) and would not want to lose business from AMD. Anyway keep on with the tirade for another 3 weeks as this will all be settled.

I do, all RS does is criticize anyone who buys at the high end. Perhaps you haven't read through his novels, but he does this multiple times in the same thread. He then attempts to analyze buying patters of people and thinks himself a modern day Nostradamus with telepathic abilities, predicting peoples real thoughts, buying patterns and future arguments. He will shift goal posts at will and manipulate quotes without a second thought. That's all he does, all day in every debated GPU thread. It's his MO. It's a joke tbh, it's gotten to the point where it's funny to watch.

You can have 2 days off for this serious callout.

Is any site live streaming or live blogging the presentation, or do we just have to wait for articles to show up after?
Can't find any stream or live blog. AMD oficial computex site has a replay button so the video will go up after the presentation.

I do, especially his posts about how 980 is just a medium grade gpu and he was 100% right. but he does waste alot of his good will on the undeserved :) I would never bother with most of the posters he replies to. mocking them usually gets me into trouble with the mods.

damn I want info on the amd computex event. gonna netflix something while i wait.

Seriously AMD? Your losing your customer left and right. The Fury and Fury X better be the most amazing GPU ever build. It better be 30% faster than the Titan X if your going to make us wait.

If the Fury and Fury X is on par with titan x and GTX 980ti, and even though I don't' believe in brand loyalty, I might not ever go back to AMD again especially if I miss out on the free Batman Arkham Knight with the purchase of the GTX 980ti.

Heads:
Wow AMD got blindsided by the 980ti. Now they're scrambling to do anything. They're stupid for not reacting and unveiling the cards at Computex, the largest Asian product showcase of the year. AMD's so desperate and reactionary, why aren't they reacting now?!

Tail:
AMD got this. Had initial plans from months ago to unveil the card at E3, the largest gaming related event in the world. Doing so by creating a PC Gaming centric presence as well. Now that nVidia has played their cards (literally and figuratively), they got nothing to fear. The ship is leak free.

Me:
Eats popcorn.

But you are going to miss out on the bundled game no matter what if you don't by an NV card. So what are you saying here?

  • Radeon Fury X will be launched as an alternative to GTX 980Ti whatever that means
  • GTX 980Ti was launched to make it difficult for AMD to succeed with Fury cards
  • Radeon Fury X was originally planned to launch at a high price (but lower than Titan X) but GTX 980Ti have made them changed plans and AMD is now preparing to launch the card at around $600 with low profit/margin to have a chance against GTX 980Ti

To be honest, as much as I want AMD to survive, if they were trying to push prices up like that too, then screw 'em. I'm GLAD the 980Ti dropped at the price level it did with the performance it offers (basically Titan-X for 35% less). I wouldn't consider a card for that price level but if it pushes AMD's cards down into a reasonable price range, all the better.

Rumor from a "source" that is unsubstantiated. Take it with a grain of salt.

I don't get why a lot of posters seemingly *want* AMD's new product lineup to fail. It would be best for consumers if they perform *better* than expected, as it will force price cuts across the board.

You do realize that this release date has been known for awhile right? It wasn't just picked right now we've known it for a decent while... since BEFORE the 980Ti launched.

Did you just magically expect this date to change and become today?

even if this isn't quite true, you see how competition works? :colbert:

There's literally no positive news coming from AMD, and it's very worrisome. Everything from the Fiji rumors, to 7 month old drivers, to the Project Cars and TW3 debacle, to the news regarding their developer relations, to their market share numbers... it's ALL bad.

If indeed it's slower than a 980Ti for "around" $600 I see no reason to even buy one.

-Not saving much, if any money
-Slower
-Less VRAM
-Far worse driver support for many new game releases.

I'm not seeing any positives here.

When you say 7 month old drivers do you WHQL? Who cares about WHQL, it is a money making scheme honestly. It doesn't mean the drivers are stable or anything even. Almost literally a rubber stamp in exchange for cash.
