Mine makes absolutely no noise. Even if i put my head right up to it I hear nothing. I do have a loud system but even so. The one thing i do notice is it only cuts down my system noise a little bit. however, if i crank up the power my fans actually get louder than they used to be. Is this thing actually overvolting my fans? Overall i like it. Its cheap, looks nice, helps out a little bit w system noise and its nice being in control of my fans. My main complaint is that u might have to sand down ur drive rails a little to make it fit and i would like to be able to turn down my fans a little more, or even off.

I got the hardcano9
it works well...
I don't care for the lcd temp controller but it works I guess.. I haven't really tested that feature.

i have 3, if you can hear the slight buzz over your pc, your pc is beyond dead silent, its probably also 5 inches from your head:p. i lower the speed on my vantec stealths and i still can't hear it:p it also leaks light out the back, nice for windowed cases:)

Just an update for anyone that cares. I have a unit that buzzes as well, and vantec has agreed to exchange mine for a newer version. So if it's worth the hassle, email them and see what they can do for you!

Guess were going to have to pay for shipping?

What terms did vantec state? I'm particurally wondering about shipping back and how that would cost about half the units worth.

Blah, xoxide is selling the nexus 201 for $25 now. I need a good fan controller, but best I could find is Hardcano 9 at newegg for $20+6ship. I'd take a nexus 201 or 205 for cheaper, if anyone's seen a better price. Thx.

Yeah I notice that when i put my ear near it.

lol no it's not possible to overvolt them since they come from the same power source, all it does is limit the voltage at lower settings, it cant pull more than 12 volts out of a 12 volts power source.

I have one (bought March 03) and the buzzing annoys me so much that I don't turn it down below 9V or so. I saw the buzzing mentioned in a few reviews but didn't think it would be a big deal... but listen, folks: If you are the type who considers noise level important to very important, you will not be satisfied with this product. If you think a 35-40dBA fan is no problem, you won't notice it. But if you're the type who uses L1As and prefer passive cooling whenever possible, etc., then stay away from this thing. Too bad, too, because it looks great and seems like a good product otherwise.

And while I'm at it, I bought the Vantec AeroFlow because reviews said it was quiet... it is quiet, but makes a high-pitched whine... :( another "almost-great" product... has anyone tried any other TMD fans besides the Vantec? I'm wondering if they all whine or just mine.

And ya, what *does* YMMV mean?

ok heres my 2 cents ive tryed several fan controlers and the only one i decently like is the sunbeam its ultra sexy, the knobs are nice and smooth not scratchy, it doesnt make any noise, the LEDs change from red to blue at the 7v mark, and they are UNGODLY BRIGHT, no they dont come with extension wires or anything, but the sound they make when you turn them off an on is a beautiful decisive click.

I'm thinking maybe I'll jsut ebay my nexus because I didn't realize that vantec only shipped RMA's for free up until 3 months from purchase. $15 for shipping?! bullsh*t...they are such swindlers...i'll get the sunbeam from svc, unless anyone has seen a better price?? maybe you wanna sell me your sunbeam??
