Compare cocoa beans to vanilla beans, or cocoa butter to vanilla extract, if you want, but who the hell eats it like that? As if that's what this poll was about anyway.

Oh yeah, and maple syrup is also an expensive, finished product. Let me know which brand of vanilla syrup to buy, to pour over my ice cream.

your question was who pays more then $10 a pound for vanilla anything. you seem to like McCormick vanilla extract so I found a price for you

only one I could find with a price in 3 minutes of looking. it is still more than $10 a pound. I am not comparing vanilla with chocolate. I am answering your question of "WTF ever paid $10.00 per pound for vanilla anything?"

There's an implication that after you bought it, you'd actually eat it. Boy, that would be tasty. Vanilla extract... yum!

Chocolate is a finished product. Vanilla is a flavoring. The whole poll is stupid, just like I said.

you put vanilla extract in stuff like french toast and cake or mixed drinks, alcoholic or non (like coke).

I've tried it pure before, its strong and has a little kick. I wouldn't drink any more than a few drops pure, but that is not the proper use of vanilla extract. It is a flavoring, just like you said.

but the point was that you asked a question and I answered it. You say you implied some things but, those implications were not clear.

how else would you buy vanilla?

If I told someone to pick me up a package of vanilla at the supermarket they would most likely come back with extract or imitation, not a pint of ice cream.

Sorry you feel that way

It wasn't ment to compare vanilla extract with a candy bar. It ment the flavors in general, how the person reading it decided to choose was up to them. If they ment ice cream, or icing, or cake, or any combination of products containing the flavors was up to them
