Well, if this was actual attempted CC fraud, then kudos to Valve for detecting and stopping it.
I'm still not happy with Valve attempting to deny people their right to freedom of speech and expression though. I'm boycotting that bunch of fascists until further notice.
What about Valve's Intellectual Property Rights? What about their rights to the Property that is their forums? You are owned VirtualLarry - they cannot stifle his right to free speech... he can always buy his OWN forums... or protest on public property instead of on virtual private property.
I was speaking about Valve's attempts at legal action against web sites that express their free speech about bugs and exploits in Valve's software. Valve does not have a right to stifle someone else's speech (hosted on their own site, not Valve's), just to cover up defects in their software, even if the public exposure of those defects could cause Value to lose money or customer goodwill. "Cheating", while perhaps not good etiquette,
is not against the law, and I personally question Value's standing, in a legal sense, against someone who is not actually cheating, only expressing, in their own words, how to go about it.
I mean, authors of "pulp fiction" murder-mystery novels aren't put in prison for murder, are they?
Why should Valve be allowed to get away with their own fascist, dictatorial, abuse of the legal system?
There's no way that I would ever financially support a corporation that abuses the God-given rights of individuals to express themselves freely.
So please, explain again how I am "0wn3d"? Are you a fascist too, that doesn't believe in the right to free expression? If you are, then you exist within a system, that is "owning" yourself. I do not believe, nor support, such a system.
Edit: Sorry, I apologize for the above somewhat-personal comment, I just got caught up in an "angry moment" ranting about Valve. I don't think stnicralisk understood what I was talking about originally, and thought I was simply referring to user posts on Valve's messageboard being administratively-controlled. I'm leaving the comment as I originally posted it, because I don't believe in hiding things, although I fixed a typo too.
