Sorry about this Chubbs, anandtech does have a few members who like to crap in other people's threads.

I would highly suggest not taking glorifiedg790's advice and avoid another generic powersupply even if the wattage is greater.

If you hang out here for a while you'll see the amount of problems people have running generic powersupplies or trying to push a powersupply too hard.

A quality powersupply is one of the most important components of your comptuer. Too many first time builders skimp on it because they see a big wattage number and assume everything's going to turn out fine. Shopping for powersupplies isn't as fun as videocards either 🙂 (excellent choice on the X800XL btw)

I'd say spend $50 on a sturdy unit and you'll be able to overclock a little and be worry free. It's going to be tough to find a quality 24-pin PSU for really cheap.

Well I looked at the images for that Allied PSU I linked and it seems it does have a 24 pin connector. http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp...-013-11.jpg&CurImage=17-154-013-08.jpg

I'm just not familiar with power supplies or cooling(I bought a 120mm case fan that sounds like a blow dryer). Thanks for the help btw.

That Allied will definately be a step up from what you have now. I'd put Allied a step lower than the companies I mentioned, but that's a pretty good option if you only have $30 to work with.

Oh, I didn't see you made a recommendation. I haven't heard of Super-Flower, but the specs look nice
+3.3V~28.0A, +5V~33A, +12V~22A. +5VSB~2.3A, -5V~0.8A, -12V~0.8A
And the big fan is a plus for sound level.
If that puts out as advertised, it looks like a winner 😀
