VA drivers $uck.

I noticed something very different from AZ.
When merging onto a 2+2 lane road (lets say highway) I almost always have to stop in the merging lane because dip$hits here obviously don't know how to move to the left lane and help people merging.

What's up with that? People here have tunnel vision.

Try driving in Hampton Roads... They're even worse out here. I think DMV needs to institute a highway driving test in with the standard skills test. :|

Try driving on the beltway, and on route 64...those highways are like deathtraps.

Megatonic, where are you in Hampton Roads? I'm in the Williamsburg area...

wow, what part...i'm from virginia beach and if you stop on the oncoming ramp to merge i'd get pissed
just speed your way in there haha, if everyone did everything the same it'd be boring😉

only thing i don't like is when were at a stop light and the person behind you gets to close (3/4 car length or less)...but thats everywhere

I live in Virginia Beach but I work in Newport News (Jefferson Lab). I get to share the roads with pisspoor drivers far too much every day.

Charlottesville.
What I really ment was that I have to stop because people in front of me have stopped (because of the reason in my first post). I hate that. Isn't it illegal too?

64 is a horrible road as someone else here said.

well i think the only places i travel arent that bad...Va Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake
Charlottesville should be bad....😉

My drive to Newport News from Va Beach and the return trip are almost always rage inducing trips for me. The asshats doing the I64 work infuriate me anew every day. And the geriatrics that slow down to 35mph in HRBT make me wanna scream. :| :| :|

There's more that pisses me off but I'm trying to stay in a good mood right now, we're heading off to Oceanbreeze here in a few minutes.

How long is the acceleration lane? People around here don't move over to help you merge, but in my experience the ones who have to stop are the ones who suck at driving. If you have enough room to match speeds with the lane next to you, there's no reason to have to stop.

Edit: Nevermind, I see now that the people in front of you stopped.

The length of the acceleration lanes are not consistent. Some are long some are short. On the short ones people need to get it but alas they don't. I gun it on the acceleration lane so I'm going slightly faster than the speed limit making it easier for me to merge.

In most states, the vehicle in the acceleration lane DOES NOT have the right of way. People don't have to merge for you when you are entering the highway. It may be common courtesy to do so, but it is not a requirement.

In other words, get over it.

No need to get over it, just intimidate the fvck out of the rude bastards (the ones in the right hand lane of traffic), they'll slow the hell down and let you in.

I gun it and go. Then again im 17 and invincible... Well my car at least. 93 sable. steel box. I could hit a brick wall and id feel bad for the wall.

I agree.. If you are merging onto a highway, it's your responsilbilty to merge with caution.

Funny you should say this. California drivers are just as bad if not worse. I got cut off at least 3 times today on the way to work.

The best part? One of the dumbasses that cut me off was driving a fscking HAZMAT truck loaded with flammable gas. Thanks for promoting safety, asshole.

I drive from Hampton to Virginia Beach (Rosemont Exit) to get to work every day. One of these days I am absolutely going to have a stroke because of these assclowns. The HRBT is unbelievable - easily a 30+ minute wait when going home at night, every night. So I started working until 1800 (6:00PM) to avoid that. Nope, at least half of the time some tool has had an accident, or a stalled car, or a vehicle fire, or some other tomfoolery in the tunnel. Ten million miles of roads in Virginia and that craps' got to happen in the tunnel. When the HRBT is down then I gotta go the long way around, which is an hour drive. Every. Friggin. Night. Jeez, from 1100 on on a Friday there's a 30+ minute delay in getting through the tunnel. I've never seen so many selfish pieces of crap drivers mixed with utterly pathetic scaredy cat drivers. I hate them all.

Luckily, my realtor just called and it looks like my offer was accepted on a house in Chesepeake... Whew. Hopefully that'll head off my stroke.

Yes I know I have to merge with caution and I do not have the right of way. Usually I do gun it and I can merge just fine.

Yeah I should get over it I know. But it's just annoying. I am used to drivers helping each other out on the road.
