Probably both run down the same assembly line in China and just thrown into different packaging anyway.

Both garbage.. Spend an extra $40 or whatever and get a good Panasonic.

I've a really old Uniden pohone and it's OK.. I'd go with VTecch just because I've heard more good things about them. But I'd probably look mor einto Sony or Panasonic as well.

V-tech is garbage. I wouldn't give a v-tech to my worst enemy. I had a uniden that lasted forever. It didn't die I replaced it with something newer. My Current Sony is ok but I have had to resolder the connection to the speaker 3 times now.

I recommend Panasonic.

We'v got the VTech 5.8Ghz multiple handset system with 3 handsets. Had them for over 3 years now and haven't had a single problem.

the only complaint about my uniden is that we have a 2-headset unit, and only one person can be on the phone at a time. kind of defeats the purpose imo.

still, they seem to hold up well enough -- and the local car service at my place uses uniden for their radios.

V-Tech blows, but is cheap
Uniden used to be great, but I wasn't impressed with what I saw a year or two ago

I've used both--quality too close to call. I suggest getting the one that you like more.

Ignore the idiots who say Uniden suck. Yes, Uniden is not a well known consumer based manufacturer. But in the office environment, you will find one of 3 phones - Bell, AT&T and Uniden.

For people recommending Panasonic over Vtech, have you owned both of them? I have. I bought Vtech's lowend 900mhz model and still works today...6 years later. I bought Panasonics flagship model. Nine months later, not one....but BOTH batteries gave out on them. Within weeks of each other. And on the battery it says to replace with Pansonic brand batteries only. BullS**t! I went out and bought some Radioshack batteries at $15 each. We'll see how they fair.

I will say however, I've never owned a uniden.

i've had good luck with unidens, i saw a 2.4 ghz w/answering machine at office depot for $10 the other day, but they also had a dual handset 2.4ghz one (2 phones in one) for $9, so i went with that.

my old ass 900mhz uniden is still rockin, but could use a battery change.

Consumer Reports has a Panasonic, a GE, and three Unidens in the top five for single-handset phones. Hrm, six and seven are Unidens, too. The most expensive is $45. The VTechs are in the bottom five.

Uniden, Uniden, VTech, GE, Panasonic for top five multiple handsets. Panasonic is the most expensive at $75.
