Even with all that crap, still too high.
3BR townhouse, gas heat, electric range, washer, dryer. 4x desktops on 24/7 (2 high-powered gaming setups / main rigs, 1 headless comms server, 1 giant a*s fileserver/HTPC (15x HDDs)). 32" LCD TV gets used a few hours a week. $85 / monthOriginally posted by: iamwiz82
Each desktop can run as high as 5 cents per hour. Doesn't sound like much until you do the math. That's $140/mo.

I got off the phone with the energy company, and the guy I spoke to (who was about my age, mid 20s) said that it sounded pretty accurate.
He said that our gas is about $150/mo, and the electric is also about $150/mo. He said that since it is so cold out, the gas is definitely normal, but the electric is high. Once I told him about all of the stuff we have, he said that it made a little more sense, but he still seemed like it was higher than it should be... Any way I can check if these figures are accurate?
He does have electric heat. All those consoles, computers, and stuff will heat up a room.Originally posted by: Captante
Unless you have electric heat somthing is very wrong with that bill.

That means each of us does 2 a week total... That doesn't seem like a ridiculously high amount.

A rude awaking awaits you the day you move out of the 'apartment' you have at mom and dad's.

Some people are active and not sedentary beings. I do 2 loads of laundry a week easily. 3-4 pants per week, 7 shirts, plus workout clothes, sweatshirts, etc.

Just because you overdo your laundry, doesnt make other sedentary, nor does it make you perfectly clean/hygeinic (sp?)
Unless you work in construction out on the field or your work doesnt clean ur place every night, there is no need to wash 4 pants a week after only one wear. sure you can work out every day of the week and need to wash like 7 sets of tshirts and shorts, but commonly used average is 3 days a week for working out and you can easily have 6 workout cothes using shorts twice.... unless you do ur workouts Commando style.
