Man, some of you guys are just plain fucking weird.

Is it really THAT BIG of a deal that we each do one load of laundry a week? What is wrong with you people? Do we combine clothes???? Fucking of course not. If we really wanted to save some money, could we? SURE.

I'll put up a poll I guess.

3 of you x one load a week = 3. You said you average one per day. It's roughly $1 to wash and $1 to dry a load.

Seems WAY HIGH.

I live in a 1100 sq ft. apt. with one roommate, we probably wash/dry 3-4 loads of clothes a week, two Dell laptops with the 90W power adapters run nearly 24/7, we've got a 32" LCD, XBOX360, electric heat, BUT there's only two incandescent bulbs in the whole place, everything else is a CFL. Our electric bill is usually $60/month, water is $20-30.

900 sq ft apartment, 2 people, 1 desktop, 1 mythbox both on 24/7, laptop, 27"tv, sound is an HT system, most bulbs are CFLs. The laundry is not in the apartment but my electric bill is $80 for 3 months...

The gas sounds right for winter. The electricity really isn't that bad for 2000 square feet with all the stuff you posted. You can buy one of these to identify the energy hogs.

BTW, you weren't paying much in your apartment. I pay the following in my 1BR in CA:

electric - $30
gas - $25
water/sewer/garbage - $30

Yeah, grown men can barely borrow clothes, let alone wash them together.

I'm in Seattle and the thing with our electric rates is they never really lowered them after the energy crunch (thanks cali) about two-three years ago.

Winter Electric rates are $0.0376/KWH for the first ~1000 KWH and $0.0793 for the rest (there is a third tier I've never hit).

My 1200 sq ft 2br/2ba, electric baseboard heat, electric water heater, washer/drier unit consumed 2230 KWH from October 17 - December 17 for a grand total of $142.08 .

Make sure you don't leave on baseboard heaters like you would central air/heating... might help. Also, I looked it up once and the water heater was spec'ed to be a little under 1/2 of our total electricity usage... unfortunately, there's not that much electricity savings in using less hot water.

Yeah, I'm in Kirkland... I'll have to check out what my actual rates are.

Way too high - 3 TVs, 3 cpu's, and every console on the market and our bill is around 68.00/month. Heat in the winter (live in MN) is 120.00 a month and electricity is around 80.00/month summer for A/C. We do 12-13 loads of laundry each week and or place is 1500sq. feet.

350-450 seems too high to me!
