I guess I'll be the first to report that we got kicked everytime it tried to re-load the map for the next round. When we come back, our original player would still be there... we come in as Player... then our originals idle out.

Yup, I'm going to look into why that was happening tommorow.

if you need any help with the ini files, I have some pretty good experience witht them..

Yeah, a couple of things to work on: kicked when loading second round, map vote not working, slow to load next map after win.

It might be a good idea to just have the goal score set to 1; that way we can play more maps instead of getting stuck in a bad map like Highland for 3 rounds.

Speaking of Highland, that's actually not a bad map if it were modified with a couple more vehicles and some better weapons. It just sucks though if you can't get a vehicle because it's just a little too big to be going around on foot. I think it could use at least another manta and a raptor and put in some avrils. I'll mod it if you're interested.

Other good maps: Quarantine, Draor, Holding Tank (fragfest), Stone Hills, Aliens, Athwart Cask, Boiling Paradise.

Well, it was fun while it lasted (I play as wombat) but people sure disappeared quickly. We need lots more players so that when people come and go, it won't get down to just 3 or 4 players. I can't believe that we can only get about a dozen people from this board to play. Where are all the gamers at?

Edit: Let me know if you want me to zip some maps and upload them somewhere.

Yeah, show up for the practice; we need as many people there as we can get.

I was sitting here ready to play, and then I realized that you guys were using a 200MB set of custom maps. This should have been clear in the main title of this thread. I would have played, so that would have made 13 of us. I noticed other people who couldn't play because of the map issue as well.

Are you playing again tonight? If so, what maps are you using this time?

Meh the custom maps were mostly not fun anyway. I'd rather stick with the regular maps, especially if we're trying to establish teamwork and get familiar with each other first.

I agree. I like playing custom maps but to get this thing rolling, we should stick to the standard maps and the CBP2 maps.

Also, I think we need about 30 people or so that will say they'll play, that way, at one time or another maybe at least a third of them will show up. For me, it's really not much fun with less than 10 people playing; I'd rather just play on a public server.

Maybe we can petition the mods to sticky an ATOT UT2K4 Clan thread for a couple of months to try and get this thing going. Then if it does go well, we can make our own small site for it with a library of maps, match schedules, etc.

Those were some excellent ideas.

When is the next practice/skirmish?

Supposed to be Thursday at 9:30 pm Eastern but DeviousTrap will have to confirm that. I'm up for tonight if he puts the server online but there's got to be more people than 5 or 6 playing.

They told me I couldn't play while testing.

So I'll be here trying to figure out if Onslaught is even decent: 66.235.181.187:7777

I extracted the maps to my map folder. I went to the server and it started to download an ONS map. Were all the map files not in your download?

I just finished some work and haven't had dinner yet -- I'll check in around 11 EST and see if anyone is still there

The -Beta level with the bridges and target painters was weak.

The sniper rifles desert level was kind of fun -- no idea about BoilingParadise though since it wasn't in the 7/6 map pack and I didn't want to wait (literally) 1,000 seconds for it to download :( .

Hey, I'd like to play. I can pretty much make all the tues/thurs practices and sunday games

But, a couple of ?'s

I) at home I've got crappy dialup 28800-38000 mostly. Will that work ?

2) are rookies welcome?

3) Never played online, only on home Lan I setup to play with junior. So, never used voice chat, I can just yell across the room at junior. If I need the voice thingy where do I go for instructions/what parts (recommend me a mike I guess, already got surround sound speeks on analog). If it's the typing thing, I guess I just need to pay attention to the game instructions, I see it on the screen when we play at home.

4) I'm runnin win98se, but thinkin that's not a prob even though everybody is on XP. Correct? (I have had probs getting those two to communicate on my home lan though)

5) Would have two gaming rigs available, could we both play, or would the bandwith from one phone line be insufficient?

6) We check back here b4 game time to find out server info and password, right?

Don't have any phone modems (hate crappy bandwith, just dsl at office), so I have to scare one up. Sunday night w/b earliest. Wait, nm just found one labled "good" on shelf of old pc parts. K, just gotta remeber how to set up dialup (ughh)

EDIT: There seems to be some debate about the maps linked here. Do we need them or not?

Thanks for ur patience,
