on the bombing mode, how do you put the ball in the goal? every time i try i fall to my death and the ball gets reset.
LOL...aren't those falls hilarious though? Bones crackin' as you hit stuff on your way down!

Anyway, you just shoot the bomb into the hole. when you are carrying it, you can't shoot...if you do, it just passes the bomb.

Installed!

I played "instant action." The game is very playable on a P4 2.0A with a Radeon 7500. I ran it at 1024x768@32 with max detail on everything, 2x FSAA, and 2x AF. I did notice a drop in the level of "smoothness" when I turned on FSAA, but like I said, it was still very playable. Hardware with EAX audio was also enabled (SB Audigy).

I am running Win2K with SP2/DX8.1. My Radeon drivers are pre-Catalyst (5.13.1.6043). No lockups or texture glitches to speak of.

I figured it out actually. If you shoot the ball through the goal, you get 3 points. If you jump through the goal while carrying the ball, you get 7 points.

If it's true that texture sizes were decreased in the demo to reduce the demo file size (I hope so since the graphics seem washed out), then people might end up being a little dissapointed with performance in the full version if they are expecting the same thing. Something to think about before everyone gets all excited about benchmarks.

I found that I'd have to double jump or dash and jump to make it in with the ball, although alternatively you can also shoot the ball in as you've discovered. :)

Yup. From the release notes, which probably went unread by many:

The full game differs in the following ways compared to this demo:

* Textures in the full game are, on average, 2X higher resolution
than in the demo. The textures in the demo were reduced because
of download size limitations.

This game ownz, dang you guys, I'm not gonna get any homework done this weekend:)

The game seems to run much smoother than before and I'm just playing on a workstation 900 thunderbird w/a ti200.

umm if the textures are low-res...doesn't that mean the full version of the game is gonna run even WORSE...i have a p4@ 2400 and Geforce Ti4200 and its averaging in the 50s...i'm curious to see how low that dips when you have the detailed textures! :Q

That d/l speed is fake , right? You can't get over 5 MEGS (gasp) /sec.....can you?

Ok I figured out how the adrenaline works...

Once you get 100, press the arrow key a few times either up, down, or left (like you would when dodging)
Up makes you extra fast, left makes you invisible, and down gives you fast life regeneration.

Probably not that much worse w/ the texture compression crap cards have nowadays. They're pretty efficient with large textures now.

UT is a next gen game folks, face it! Just like when Quake3 first came out...people weren't getting 200fps like they are now. Besides, if these textures are only "low res" they look freakin sweet!! :Q

HOW TO BENCHMARK.....SORRY IF THIS HAS BEEN POSTED BEFORE, BUT I'M NOT READING THROUGH 400 POSTS!!

Straight from the readme file:

========================================================================
6 Benchmarking
========================================================================

6.1 Overview
------------

The Unreal Tournament 2003 Demo comes with a large variety of
benchmarking functionality. The easiest way to utilize it is by starting
Benchmark.exe in the System directory of your Unreal Tournament 2003
installation directory. This will bring up a dialog box asking you to
pick a resolution and when you press okay, it will run 4 consecutive tests
(two level flybys and two botmatches). It is important to not touch the
mouse before the final dialog with the results pops up. The result
dialog displays the average framerate of the two flybys and the two
botmatches.

6.2 Possible issues
-------------------

The benchmark will always try to run at the highest detail settings so
results will not be directly comparable with cards on which the game
can't render at the highest detail level (e.g. TNT2 and Kyro I/II
cards).

For the botmatches the Benchmark.exe is running a game with just bots,
with the player in spectator mode. In case the engine can't run at the
highest detail settings the outcome of the botmatch might differ
leading to a different botmatch and therefore numbers not comparable
to other results. This could also happen when comparing different kinds
of CPUs. So either watch the botmatches carefully when benchmarking to
ensure that they are the same every time or compare the number in
brackets in benchmark.log. If the number is the same, the exact same
sequence was rendered.

6.3 Further information
-----------------------

In the Benchmark directory you will find a couple of batch files
which can be used to run individual tests and to create a big batch
file for automating the whole process of running at multiple
resolutions.

The game will log a lot of information and stats while in benchmark
mode and the results can be found in the subdirectories of the
Benchmark folder. Of the most interest is the CSV folder, which
contains the myriad of stats the engine collects on a per frame
basis in the form of a "comma separated variables" file which e.g.
can be opened in Microsoft Excel.

Post some results people!

Post some results people!

Here's my result.

I dl'd the game, installed the game, played the game for 5 minutes, the physics still suck, stopped playing the game.

P4 2.3GHz, 512MB RAM, GF3 Ti200 210/270, 1280x960. Not bad, I think.
