UT 2003 demo out

I will need some possible help on this.

the port that this is running on is 7777 (perhaps this is causing the lag cause everyone is using 7777.)

I'm going to open the console dedicaded server on a different port and see if the lag times drop.
I can use assistance in locating the commands to change the port.
I have seen the coding somewhere but I don't remember where

Once this is set up I will need people to report back in with ping times and then inform others if successful of the changes.

any idea if a certain port on the internet might be better to use for some reason?

please test by using port 7788 and see if that is better.

also I will be trying an adjustment to game parameters and see if an increase in Tickrate will help.

edit: tickrate has been adjusted also.
 
I did a tracert to your IP earlier and it was timing out after about 20 (!) hops. It's somewhat improved now, but I bet something is just goofed with the connection from me to you.
 
When I was playing with earlier, the lag was around 4 to 8 seconds at times, which made things challenging 😀 So 400ms is definitely an improvement, although I still was getting the jitters. Since other human players were having a great time fragging me, I'm thinking it's not your system that has a problem... might be a connection issue from here to there.

I can vouch for that! :Q I played a game against Bingo, either last night or Friday night, and he fragged my sorry slow butt good! :Q

(It was the other way around just a week ago, ack! 😉)

Dang nab punk whippersnappers and their quick learning, quick improving ways. 😛 I can practice for 2 weeks and only marginally get better.🙁

But I still have fun!

My connection continues to be Very Bad. 🙁 It's kind of amusing to hit the fire button, then move (or try to move, anyway) and get hit in the head with my own rocket, coming from where I was 4 seconds ago! :Q

I'm trying to think of ways you force yourself to route differently, but I don't think you can. Maybe you could experiment with MTU size, might hep ??? But you were OK at first I suppose so it's something thathas changed in the network..

I tried late last night and the connection had improved to where I could navigate the map without problems. Still not the ~150ms ping I had at first, but good enough that I can be considered dangerous again 😀 Hopefully that improvement persists.

I wish there were a way to fall down and play dead, like there is in UT. That was always fun when it worked. 🙂
 
Migroo, make sure you have got the correct port (it was changed couple of days ago)
