They sent me the box-casket and I sen them the 360, got a new looking one a month later and so far so good. Then came the 3 years extension, so I think im good for a bit on the RROD.:)

did you tell them you bought it from someone else?

and is asking them who its registered to the only way to find out?

As a side note, I still have a pre-launch 360 (from the Pepsi/Doritos promo) going strong :D It's been used it countless hours of DVD playing, gaming, and it's been left on many a times after forgetting to turn it off. Maybe I'm just lucky :p
It has been suggested by at least 1 member here, that leaving it on so it doesn't experience the cold-hot-cold-hot cycle might helped reduce RRoD issues. So maybe forgetting and leaving it on so often, has been a good thing?

That sounds possible to me. If you leave it on then it'll stay warm... but not full load HOT. Then you'd either turn it off when you notice it or boot up a game, which either way means the temp change isn't as harsh as when you do a cold start to full load.

If the system hasn't been opened, I'd definitely try for getting it fixed under the MS warranty. I have fixed two 360's with the RRoD, but the one continues to be finicky, and it's certainly not because I don't know what I'm doing.

If you can't get it fixed under warranty, then it's not a difficult process to fix the RRoD. However, it is time-consuming. I do recommend replacing the stock fans with the Talismoon fan if you go this route, as well as extending the fan shroud with aluminum tape to cover the top part of the GPU and CPU heatsinks to increase airflow over them.

A lot of the RRODs have been linked to memory problems. There's a video tutorial where a guy simply places some rubber on the memory units and his RROD disappears. and DO NOT use the tower method...ever.

When I called I told them I bought it from someone else used, they asked me for the original owners name address and phone number, then they transfered the ownership and re-registered everything to me.
