and K-state is a much better team than Cal. Your point?

His point is that the PAC-10 only exists so that everyone from the Midwest and the East can have a big laugh every year. The PAC-10 is a huge joke to everyone but those on the left coast. A majority of the teams in the PAC-10 aren't even above .500 whereas in the SEC they are.

North Texas would finish above .500 if they were in the Pac 10. I wish North Texas was in the Big 12 instead of Baylor, Baylor is only in the big 12 because of basketball :(

I bet if you put Oklahoma State, or Ole Miss in the Pac 10, they'd take the championship most of the time. Pac 10 is so over-rated.

Having a National Champion who didn't even win their own conference would be ridiculous. I'd rather see USC v. LSU at this point. USC's loss was in triple overtime and LSU's loss was only by, what, 12 points. The Sooners got absolutely blown out last night by a supposedly inferior opponent.

I see your reasoning, but I just don't agree. In my eyes, a loss in a conference title game is still just a loss. Having a national champ who lost to a team like Cal is ridiculous, IMHO. Any national champ who has one loss on their season cannot say they were the best team in the country all year long.

I know your only talking about football but the PAC 10 is a legit conference. In fact they have won more NCAA titles then any other conference. 4 of the top 10 title winning schools are from the PAC 10, including the top three spots.

Plus they had 7 teams go to bowl games last year. Not many other conferences had 70% of their teams get into bowl games.

They can get a share, but who is going to give a share of the national title to a team that lost to CAL? I don't think a team that lost to CAL should be in Division I. Hell, the should have barred USC from playing football for about 25 years because they lost to C-A-L.

USC played FOUR teams with a winning record. Just about all of LSU's opponents had winning records.

so by your logic, Michigan St. (who was number 15 when we played them last year--at Michigan!), Baylor, Washington, UCLA, Arizona St., Arizona, Stanford, Southern Mississippi (who are undefeated in their conference this year), and Illinois all should be barred from playing football....wonderful....

by the way, Cal only lost to USC last year 30-28, and that was after a clearly incomplete pass in the endzone was called a TD for USC. I also believe we beat them 4 out of the last 6 years...

Cal gave Kansas st. a better game than OU...at least we only lost to them by 14! What did OU lose by? 28?!?! Best team ever!?? whatever...

Go Bears! Beat the Hokies!

You obviously didnt watch the game then. It got close after a couple of late scores, it wasn't close.

Yes, look how the PAC-10 dominates all the major sports: men's water polo, men's cross country), UCLA (men's soccer, gymnastics, women's water polo, softball), and USC (volleyball, women's golf)

HOLY SH!T, I underrated the PAC-10 in Water Polo, Volleyball, and Golf.

interesting...for someone who seems to know so much about college sports...you left out UCLA's 11 basketball championships, including 7 consecutive titles....wonder why...

edit: just remembered...which team won the best performance play ever in college football history? that's right..Cal...1982 Big game against Stanford. "The Play"

How come UCLA's basketball team sucks now? Plus, I didn't list other sports for a reason. This is a FOOTBALL Thread.. The other guy is the one that came out of the water talking about how the PAC-10 has Championships, but they are in sports that NO one watches and aren't considered major sports. Secondly, Alabama has won more football championships than the PAC-10 has teams. Alabama has actually won a good many titles since 1960 whereas UCLA hasn't.

And thats 7 consecutive titles in a sport that has a playoff not one that determines its champion by a computer or a ranking system. THe only sport that the PAC 10 hasen't dominated is the one with out a playoff system.

IMHO there has never been a team that could call itself the National Champion. Number 1 ranked teams loose all the time in playoff systems. Playoffs are the only way to determine a champion.

Who has more Basketball Championships since 1970, the ACC or the SEC or the PAC-10? But that is nice excuse for why the PAC-10 hasn't won a major championship(Basketball, Football, Baseball) in about 8 years.

Arizona won the NCAA basketball championship in 1997 so technically 6...almost 7 years. Go CATS!

Yeah I forgot about Zona. Now that is a team that is worthy of some praise.
