USB Thumb Drive encryption

I've been thinking about taking my personal data off my main system at home, and putting it on my thumb drive. If this gets lost though, anyone can see the info. I was wondering if anyone else is using some kind of encryption software on their thumb drive.

Something that doesn't take admin rights to install, so, the files are accessable from other computers.

Just got an offer from ZoneLabs for this:

Steganos 8

I am ordering it to do exactly what you say - put it on a thumb drive with my key financial files.

I think you may be missing the point of that software. From what I read, it looks like the USB drive is just for the key and it encrypts a computer. You wouldn't want to remember a 256-bit key.

Nope! Read further . . . "Encrypt your data on a USB stick, mobile phone or digital camera. Save your passwords for the Safe on them as well. Simply connect your device, and the corresponding secure drives open automatically. Of course, you can also enter your password manually.

"Steganos Portable Safe? turns a memory stick into a mobile safe: Its contents can easily be decrypted on any PC with no additional software. Add new data - as soon as the memory stick is removed, all information is encrypted. Or burn encrypted archives on CD, DVD or DVD DL. "

BTW, Spook - that quotation is one of George S. Patton's - "No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.
George S. Patton"

I use something similar to store and encrypt my passwords and other sensitive info. It's called Pass2Go, it's the portable version of Roboform that can be run from a USB stick. Also uses AES encryption and it works great.
