So my crappy 120GB Maxtor USB HDD has started to die. I think it's just corrupt sectors on the drive, but since I don't have anywhere to back the data on it up, I can just format to check. I'm getting a lot of corrupt files from I/O device errors.
So my question...is it the drive itself, as it is a Maxtor and I've had nothing but problems...or is it the USB enclosure that's causing the issues?
And if it is the enclosure, since it is actually a one-piece external...can I still tear the enclosure apart to connect the drive via USB?
