First Eurovision, then the Eurocup, then the European basketball championship, now we are gonna take fiba!

They had their chances. They had the ball down by 4. I give credit to Greece for great movement without the ball and hitting the open shots.

Lebron James is officially the WORST defender in Japan right now. :|

He refuses to put his hand up to contest shots and was a huge reason greece was so successful with their pick and rolls. Anyone with cement shoes could walk by him down the lane because he won't move his feet. He picked a heckuva time to be a lazy @ss and cost USA the victory.

That's what happens when you underestimate someone.. Coach K had mentioned several times that his team should look at this game with great attention.. It's a good thing USA is good at this(underestimate the others). Happens a lot in the last years.. 😉
Basketball is a TEAM game... And Hellas(Greece) is probably the best TEAM, with a solid defence most of all.. But offence too when it really needs it... 101 points against USA.. 😀 😉
Pick and rolls were state of the art for us (Greece) while Americans didn't have the 3pt shoot(that's what I was hoping for..)
As someone has already stated don't look at this as a surprise.. We are the European Champions afterall 😉
GO HELLAS!! TAKE IT AND LIFT US HIGHER ONCE MORE!!!

Wow. Congratulations to Greece, they played a very good game, both from an execution standpoint and from a tactical gameplan standpoint.

It just goes to show once again, these last few years have not just been a 'fluke'. There are talented teams all around the world, and the US style of play has drifted over the years to a more individualistic approach (emphasis on the superstars) rather than a team approach. The US could dominate simply by having talent that was far superior to anything anyone else had. Now that the gap in talent is decreasing, teams playing together will beat a group of individual stars (US) fairly often.

wow, a bronze isn't even a gimme when the US plays Argentina.

i'm pissed i missed the game.......hopefully there's a replay.

That Spain/Argentina game was the best, most intense game I have seen in awhile. Those leagues over in Europe really can play at a very high level.

College teams get a chance once every four years to go overseas for a "preseason". Duke last went overseas in 2002. I hope the next time they do decide to go overseas, they play some of the better teams in Europe, or even a national team. Hell, Davidson University played the Italian national team when they went overseas last year, and then they came back to the US and went undefeated in regular season Southern Conference play.

Oh yeah, why the hell did Argentina foul at the end?

definitely a gamble that didn't pay off.

like i said in previous threads, a sick part of me wanted to see the USA team lose. 😕

for all the attention/fame/money/fawning they receive here in the US, i kind of like watching them get humbled by "lesser talented" international teams. i love the team game overseas, but i also love the individual athleticism of the NBA. how awesome would a mix of a true team game and crazy athleticism be?

Team USA has become the New York Knicks of the international basketball scene

So we've been reminded again that in the US, pro basketball does not involve sound "fundamentals" like defense, shooting and free throws. No wonder I'm losing interest in the NBA! 🙁
